Burr is funny, but his delivery is so "Bro-centric" it's hard to take him.

DriverStabby - 2012-12-27

TAAAAAKE . . . . HIIIIIIIIIIIM!

baleen - 2012-12-27

Yoko Ono was trolling the male dominated rock and roll hierarchy long before there was even a word for trolling. Ahead of her time, I say.

snothouse - 2012-12-28

I more meant the use of the "fucking punch her cunt face" as a way of keeping women in line.

Millard - 2012-12-27

I get kinda tired of Bill Burr a lot, even when he's right.

Gmork - 2012-12-27

Yeah, he's got a ways to go. Spot on though, i'm sure everyone has had to bite their tongue over their buddy's crazy new girlfriend.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-12-27

1:45, yes yes yes.

The Townleybomb - 2012-12-27

Holy crap bro, I would have never noticed this without your guidance.

jangbones - 2012-12-27

I like Bill Burr but this is some low hanging fruit

Maggot Brain - 2012-12-27

I'd take Yoko over Linda any day.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2012-12-27

I'd take Themetta "Toddy" Suggs over both Yoko and Linda. I think Suggs has been married to Berry for over sixty years, despite the fact Berry could (and often did) have any woman he wanted. She must have some interesting stories.

Old_Zircon - 2012-12-27

I used to think like this but after I actually spent more time with it I've come to feel that the first Yoko Ono album is better than any of John's solo stuff.

The unrealeased Linda McCartney recordings with lots of swearing and weird sexual imagery are pretty excellent, too.

sosage - 2012-12-27

I'm gonna be Captain Obvious McRanty for a sec:

I don't dislike Yoko Ono for destroying the Beetles (supposedly...I dunno...did she?). I'm not even a die hard fan of the band, as blasphemous as that is for some people.

It's that she is the poster child of attention whoring, fuel my narcissism instead of my talent, hide behind a thin veil of high concept, bullshit artist. Bonus points for being a baby boomer who has found a whole new slew of Gen X followers to exploit (and whatever post Gen X is...hipsters? I dunno, get off my fucking lawn).

P.S. I don't mind the high concept shit like putting a lightbulb in an empty room or painting a smiley face with your own shit. I just start calling bullshit when that stuff is what you lean on the most.

Five for Bill being right the fuck on, even if it is an easy target.

baleen - 2012-12-27

Yoko Ono is not talentless. She was an accomplished, original and interesting musician & artist before meeting John Lennon. Even if you don't like her music, and I question how much of her solo music most pompous anti-Ono people have actually heard, you can admit that she was a singular human being before meeting John Lennon.

The Beatles were doomed because John Lennon was bored with the Beatles and Paul McCartney wanted to be Paul McCartney King of Everything. Blaming ladies on artistic endeavors failing is classic stupid.

baleen - 2012-12-28

And yes, hipsters have embraced her, so what? She has been unfairly castigated for decades by the even worse commercial mainstream. Go get a Led Zeppelin box set at the mall and get the fuck off my lawn, too.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-12-28

baleen, I just read that with the voice of Mel Brooks in my head, immediately followed by Bea Arthur exclaiming "OH! A BULLSHIT ARTIST!"

Gmork - 2012-12-28

I've listened to her music and can say nothing is unfair about her treatment. She's a dumb cunt and she has no talent.

memedumpster - 2012-12-28

Yoko isn't the one singing like absolute shit with Chuck Berry in this video. Look a little closer to Chuck's mic and you'll notice a runny white stain that you may have automatically mistaken for discarded semen. This is a natural reaction to seeing John Lennon.

Riskbreaker - 2012-12-28

I listened to a Yoko Ono song once, it was more than enough for me. She makes the sound pigs make in a slaughterhouse.

baleen - 2012-12-28

I really just wanted to troll you guys until I could declare THAT YOU HAVE ALL JUST BEEN YOKO OWNED!!!! But that won't happen because none of you have listened to her music enough to make an informed decision. Some of her music is only instrumental. She actually made two good records, believe it or not.

baleen - 2012-12-28

Also, this is a total throw-away performance. Lennon sings like total shit. If Yoko hadn't added her dazzling contrapuntal genius it would never have even been pulled from the vault.

Gmork - 2012-12-29

Lennon was not coming through on the mic very well and has that "going in and out of range" sound quite often through this performance, but it was more about lennon and berry just jamming out.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-10

Here's a great Yoko Ono Song: Walking on Thin Ice.
I read that John was carrying the tracks for this when he was shot.

http://youtu.be/x1DHm7p1sm4

She's not a baby boomer. She was born in Tokyo before the war. The baby boom is a post-war American phenomenon.

This looks to me like it might have been from the week that John and Yoko co-hosted the Mike Douglas show. The Mike Douglas show was classic seventies TV. Ever see the clip where Iggy Pop explains his industrial influences to Dinah Shore while David Bowie just smiles like he can't believe this is happening? That's what syndicated talk shows were like in the seventies. Mike Douglas was on five days a week with 90 minute shows, and he would have a "co-host" , and some of them were legendary. Imagine spending 8 hours with Ray Charles, or Tiny Tim, or Louis Armstrong, or John and Yoko. Yeah that's how fucking random and crazy it was.

memedumpster - 2012-12-28

Chuck Berry should be pissed he had to share a stage with an overrated cracker from a no talent mass marketed band.

Then he should have banged Yoko.

misterbuns - 2012-12-28

haha its funny cuz alot of people like the beatles but not you because you're so edgy you tell em.

Gmork - 2012-12-29

I think memedumpster was tempted to take that route because of getting shit from the kind of people who are shocked to find you aren't crazy about the beatles (happened to me enough times). But I don't think that's a good response, to just arbitrarily rebuke everything by an artist because the fans piss you off. I at least admit they were a good band even if a lot of their stuff doesn't ring with me.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-10

Interesting thing about Chuck Berry is that he never had his own band. He would fly to a gig by himself, and play with a local band, so performing with no talent crackers was no doubt something he was used to.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-10

I like Yoko Ono, and i think it's wrong to characterize her whole relationship with John in one scene. There's evidence to suggest that being married to John Lennon's ego was not always easy, and people who blame Yoko Ono for the breakup of the Beatles are idiots.

But this is a great story, and the look on Chuck Berry's face is priceless.
