Juicy so far at 20 minute mark, but they seem to miss the point about, for example area 51. I asked a guy that supposedly "knew some stuff" about how this stuff works, and he made the point that basically, "If you know about it, it's not relevant." As in, it's not what's said, it's what's unsaid. Either way, this is a treat.

Neill deGrasse Tyson has the patience of a saint.

If you're talking about the moon landing skeptics, Joe Rogan plays Devil's Advocate for them only to, for the most part point out the fallacies, but he does believe we went to the moon.

Pretty much all of the conversations here are things that wouldn't make a mainstream media interview, and it's a thousand times more fascinating.

If that's true, RouS, that's a significant shift in position.

He's argued moon landing denial and identifying with the movement in at least two venues in my memory. If you can dig up his episode when he was on the Penn Jillette show in 200-something, that'd be one.

Tobster - 2013-01-19

Wait, when he says "Kubrick Documentary" does he mean "Dark Side of the Moon"? Because that is clearly a mockumentary and if Joe Rogan thinks that was serious he is an idiot.

The great thing about Joe Rogan is that he is really interested in a wide array of subjects and his guests really reflect that.

And yeah, he used to be more conspiracy oriented, and also believed in ancient aliens or at least was open to it, but found a documentary that completely refuted the entire idea and now he pushes that and admits he was wrong without any hesitation. He has very little ego about this sort of thing and I think the fact that he welcomes people to convince him otherwise and is open to discussion on these topics is a hell of a lot better than the History Channel or various cable news shows trying to capitalize on people's fears and suspicions. He's a lot more reasonable than that, and he just comes across as honest and non pretentious.

Also, he's friends with Alex Jones but openly says that Alex is fucking crazy. So he doesn't pull any punches.

A common thing with the Joe Rogan Experience is that he always seems to want solid proof before he runs with something. So if his manbaby sidekick Brian makes a statement, Rogan will call it goofy nonsense until it's backed up.

Meerkat - 2013-01-19

I was talking about Rogan going on about the faked moon landing on and on and on and on.

I'm sorry but after about 10 minutes I would have leaned over and slapped him as hard as I could.

Meerkat - 2013-01-19

Edit: I'm not actually sorry.

RoUS, since you think WTC7 was an inside job, you don't have much room to talk, now do you?

Neill deGrasse Tyson has the patience of a humble, reasonable human being.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of my favorite people.

The moon conspiracy stuff is tea party furry brony vlogger level of embarrassing, but this rocks otherwise. I loved the conversation on diamonds. Our ability to mimic nature and make gemstones is one of the things that makes me happy to be a human. That's badass for an animal. I don't see the global Argentine ant supercolony making diamonds, we're still the most industrious planet owning critter.
