It's rather hard to distinguish the owl's expressions of "I'm ecstatic" with "oh god is this pink behemoth going to crush me into pulp?"
Birds have exactly two "expressions" 1. Scan for weakness 2. Kill mode
And of course "How can I murder this thing?"
That's just part of #2.
Bats aren't bugs and Birds didn't evolve from mice!
This bird had to evolve to hunt them, though.

Except maybe for the pygmy owl, and that other kind with the really long legs.

I might have been thinking of burrowing owls, but I could have sworn there was one with even longer legs than them.
