Oh, Microsoft Internet Explorer. You know just how to charm your way into my heart.

I'm not taking you back, but damn good try!

SolRo - 2013-01-25

Today I discovered I like being pandered to.

baleen - 2013-01-24

I had the first 1200 baud on my block, fuckers.

chumbucket - 2013-01-24

Reconnect with computers that don't use keyboards and crazy techno stuff like that.

Hooker - 2013-01-24

You decided to become more frivolous with your personal information, and so did we.

misterbuns - 2013-01-24

Pro.

PegLegPete - 2013-01-24

Marketing. We need to teach people how to defend against this stuff.

misterbuns - 2013-01-24

Reading old books.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-25

Using and appreciating old things, period.

paranex - 2013-01-24

Nothing could get me more excited for IE10 than reminding me of those innocent salad days when running a Java applet could crash your entire PC.

Hooker - 2013-01-24

Java. JavaScript. ActiveX. There were a lot of things that shut your entire computer down back then. Good times.

boner - 2013-01-24

Java only got worse.

Udderdude - 2013-01-25

I'm not even sure how Java manages to crash anything, seeing as how sandboxed and neutered it is. But it does, somehow. It's like magic!

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-24

In the 90s all the cool kids used Netscape Navigator.

Koda Maja - 2013-01-24

No surprise that Microsoft is nostalgic for a time when it was still relevant.

misterbuns - 2013-01-24

FABIO - 2013-01-24

I worked at a Microsoft business center a couple years ago. Constant stream of poor shlubs forced to fly in and attend classes on Windows upgrades because the companies were contractually obligated to. Every single feedback card was crying bullshit how the whole thing was just a commercial for the next product.

FABIO - 2013-01-24

Even more surreal: attending the free food at the Windows Phone 7 launch party and watching a room full of people pretend to act how exciting and new this application was. It was like watching those North Korean propaganda videos when half a dozen people acted amazed that you could now use an ap in 2010 to look up cocktail recipes...ON YOUR PHONE!

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-25

IE: at least it's not Sea Monkey.

I tried a lot of browsers in the 7 years I was dpoing all of my work online, and to this day the only one I really like much is Opera. I'll use Firefox for noncompliant pages that Opera doesn't handle well (pretty rare these days, but it was more of an issue a few years ago) but the UI feels clunky and dated compared to Opera. A lot of stuff that Firefox introduced in 2011 has been in Opera since the middle of the last decade.

Blue - 2013-01-24

I remember thinking that I'd be an adult and I'd see pogs again as a weird generational thing. I remember thinking it would seem dumber though.

I kinda assumed it would be the kind of event that we would look back to and analyze. I kinda thought there would be history channel special investigating the strange moment in time when little cardboard circles were insanely popular.

Xenocide - 2013-01-25

Remember Internet Explorer? It's back. In pog form.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-01-25

I'm giving my ghost stars to Xenocide

Father Avalanche - 2013-01-25

You can have half of mine.

The Mothership - 2013-01-25

You majored in business in college, learned nothing, and then started drinking too much and bragging about minor achievements to drown out the voices telling you that you failed. So did we.

kingarthur - 2013-01-26

Change that business major to Art History and Sociology and throw in a few Pixies, Breeders, Kool Keith, and Siouxsie records...

Xenocide - 2013-01-25

Here are some things that in retrospect seem really stupid, which you would not be caught dead using today. Please associate them with our product.

sosage - 2013-01-25

As 90's as the raging crack epidemic and the unprecedented gang violence.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-01-25

woah pogs? walkmen? ITS LIKE THEYRE SPEAKING RIGHT TO ME

CIWB - 2013-01-25

"Let's make a list of things people from our target demographic will remember from their childhoods. They'll eat it up like candy." This is horrible, and way too banal to be five star POE horrible.

Two stars because it's not completely awful, and the two star rating isn't used enough.

The God of Biscuits - 2013-01-25

I liked the commercial.

Still not using that shitty browser though.

TeenerTot - 2013-01-25

Well, at least I know my generation is now irrelevant to their marketing demographics.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-25

On top of everything else in this fucking thing, the soundtrack is terrible. There is a perfect opportunity to use some quintessentially 90s song. Not that that would've saved it.

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-25

"Terrible music" is the most quintessentially 90s song there is.

TeenerTot - 2013-01-25

Oooh! I vote for Counting Crows' "Mister Jones"!

EvilHomer - 2013-01-25

Anything by Technotronic.

Father Avalanche - 2013-01-25

Or Haddaway...

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-01-26

I was thinking Chumbawumba really.

mamiebangs - 2013-01-29

Real McCoy

Rudy - 2013-01-25

Hungry Hungry Hippos was released in 1978 but whatever. Where's the OK Soda?

Old_Zircon - 2013-01-25

OK Soda was only released in a few test markets, so I guess it wouldn't trigger childhood associations in enough people to make it worth paying Cocoa Cola the licensing fee.

twinkieafternoon - 2013-01-25

Forget OK...what about Surge? That made people's sperm counts go down!

Also, the description more or less nails my thoughts on this.

Father Avalanche - 2013-01-25

I still remember sitting at the lunch table and being lectured by that awful prick He almost beat me up once, but then he didn't.

Father Avalanche - 2013-01-25

woah, somehow a lot of my words were excised from that comment.

gotta stop logging in in this state.

KillerGazebo - 2013-01-25

I will go back to using IE when I go back to playing pogs, listening to a walkman, and failing to grow pubic hair.

Nikon - 2013-01-25

Internet Explorer is the best browser for downloading a better browser.

deadpan - 2013-01-25

Watching Microsoft awkwardly try to ape Apple's Think Different campaign is the saddest thing.

StanleyPain - 2013-01-25

I used Netscape Navigator very first time I got on the internet and used it until I picked up Opera and then Firefox. NICE TRY, MIKRO$OFT

Boomer The Dog - 2014-08-17

I had the 56k dialup modem, being external it worked faster than the internal modem that seemed to suck all the energy out of the computer.

I use Firefox and was glad to get off of IE at the time, but now would use most any browser that had an adblock!
