I've heard some of these arguments before, at times from women in the military. It wasn't until the word "Obedient" appeared that this guy went from Adorably Pompous to Batshit Insane.
Women are something like half a standard deviation higher in agreeableness (one of the big 5 personality traits) than men. There's a good deal of overlap between agreeableness as general obedience/subservience, but its a real mistake the use a nontechnical (and pejorative) term here. [The google memo guy used the correct term (neuroticism) and a large part of his condemnation came from people who assumed it was an insult out of ignorance of modern statistical psychology.]
I agree that this goofball did a dogshit job of making his points (mythological times? Die the howitzers?) many of which i disagree with.
There's an element of truth to the total war tendency of democracies at war (best exemplified by the American civil war and not any major European war), but it's also very worth mentioning that by a wide margin the bloodiest conflict in history (the eastern front of WW2) was between two decidedly non-democratic states. Total war depends less on political structure and more on political/cultural will.
Women have been serving in the military for a long time. For an example, let me reference a woman portrayed as serving in the military in a movie set in the future.
