I've always been behind her 'no fat chicks' policies, but am also glad to see that she is still the lunatic I remember.

catpenis27 - 2013-02-10

Every time I see/hear anything about Powter I think of a comment that was on one of her vids here, perhaps the organic pear thing, anyway, "I'd pee in her butt." is the only thing I can think of now when I'm reminded she exists.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

I've missed her. Her style is abrasive, her substance is genuine. In the 90s, she did infomercials where she'd be talking to an audience, and the camera would be behind her, lingering on her fine big ass. People made jokes about it. How could she be a weight loss expert and have a real ass? if you saw the video, you know it was no accident. She was pushing against the impossible definition of a real woman's body.

That soft focus lens is pretty funny. I guess they're just gonna keep smearing more vaseline or whatever on the lens as she gets older. Eventually she will look like a being of pure light, and then it will be time for her to move on to the next phase in her existence.

boner - 2013-02-10

I bet that somewhere out there, is a lean muscular sex tape.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-02-10

Susan Powter is a lying scam artist. I don't think she was ever as overweight as she claims to have been. She was just another in a long line of hucksters attacking the self-esteem of vulnerable women and telling them they could be better people if they just spent hundreds of dollars on her videos and books.

Howard Stern is paid to be an obnoxious asshole. He says stupid shit because it gets people to pay attention to him. Ms Sidibe handled his antics in the best way possible, by ignoring his goofy ass. He was proved wrong, anyway, as she's still getting roles.

Robin Quivers is just so bitter, it's not even funny. I mean that literally. It's heartbreaking to hear her attacking Sidibe and defending her statements as if she just wants to help her.

Gabby Sidibe is a big lady. I don't know how healthy she is and neither does Susan Powter. Maybe she could lose a little weight, but she will always be big. To get herself down to Susan Powter's size, she would have to adopt extremely unhealthy and dangerous habits and would not look as beautiful as she does now.

This buzz-cut asshole can just shut the fuck up. Powter owes her shape to genetics more than anything.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-02-10

Ricki Lake didn't have a problem doing it.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-02-10

Ricky Lake isn't as scrawny as Susan Powter, either.

She's leaner than she was in her early days, but she's still a big gal. It's the way she's built and there's nothing wrong with it.

As I said, Sidibe could probably trim down some, but she will always be big.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

See, we always get our wires crossed in these discussions, because we're so obsessed with appearance we can't have a simple discussion about health.

I don't remember Susan Powter ever saying anything attacking the self esteem of women. Maybe I'm wrong, but the discussion is pre-broken.

Sibde will always be big, and if she tried to get all Nicole Kidman, it would be a bad health choice. She's cute. Maybe you wouldn't want to fuck her, but she's attractive in a way that makes her engaging to listen to, and since you can only fuck sio many people, that's what ought to count most of the time. She's charismatic. She has a right to feel attractive and respected.

But she needs to lose weight, or she will suffer for it. Everything Susan Powter is true. How do we convey both of those messages at once? Because we really need to do that.

Unfortunately, everybody (especially women) is supposed to look like someone whom everyone would want to fuck, all the time. That's got nothing to do with reality, but it's great for selling products,

As fucked up as it is, the standard for physical attractiveness is further distorted by fantasy expectations. I hate to do this, but here's a music video that got a lot of comments about how INCREDIBLY fat the girl is. Seriously? Check out those skinny little legs when she makes her entrance.

http://youtu.be/tHweocGg5N8

Susan Powter and the League of Extraordinarily Large ladies or whatever need to get together on this. People who cruelly mock fat girls sometimes pretend that they're concerned about health. i think they're lying, and they're certainly not helping. If we're obsessed with body image as a society, , and we have an obesity problem as a society, it's possible that being obsessed with body image is not a cure for obesity. But focusing on health is good. We really need to just forget about that other stuff. if you're healthy, someone will want to fuck you, and one is all you really need.

spikestoyiu - 2013-02-10

Saying Gabourey Sidibe "gets roles", while accurate, is a little generous.

Oddly enough, I actually ran into her while in Atlantic City over the summer. She is very, very, very big. So big that her face appears to be swallowing its own features. She was with a group of far more attractive girls who she bought dinner for.

Super cool story.

catpenis27 - 2013-02-10

I ironically bought a VHS tape at a thrift store labeled "Cat Entertainment #1." It was a video of fish or something, you know, to leave on the TV when you leave your cats and go to the store or whatever. That was the the sleeve of the VHS. Inside the thing though, when I got home, I realized it was a Susan Powter shopping video from the early 90's and I couldn't have been happier for like 5 minutes. She is admittedly too boring to be all that and a bag 'o chips, even as crazy as she is.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

Cats love Susan Powter!

JOHN NOT EVERY THING CAN BE EXPLAINED WITH BOXXY PLEASE GET NEW EXPERIENCES GODDAMMIT JOHNNNNN

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

Fuck you, dude. You saying that I never talk about anything else, and that's literally not true, so learn to read fucktard.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

>>JOHN NOT EVERY THING CAN BE EXPLAINED WITH BOXXY PLEASE GET NEW EXPERIENCES GODDAMMIT JOHNNNNN

Well, shit OF COURSE not everything can be explained by Boxxy, but is completely relevant. I wouldn't have cited it otherwise,, but the fact that it bothers you makes me want to elaborate.

I repeat: This video

http://youtu.be/tHweocGg5N8

got a barrage of nasty comments about how fat she is. And she seems perfectly normal, healthy and attractive. This is what girls are exposed to now, and the layers of pain over body image make communicating and confronting health issues difficult. We don't need a fat acceptance movement so much a "normal body" acceptance movement.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

>>Gabby Sidibe is a big lady. I don't know how healthy she is and neither does Susan Powter. Maybe she could lose a little weight, but she will always be big. To get herself down to Susan Powter's size, she would have to adopt extremely unhealthy and dangerous habits and would not look as beautiful as she does now.

See, NO ONE, including Gabby, knows how healthy she's going to be in her 30s, 40s, and 50s at this rate but Susan Powter's making an educated guess that's pretty sound.

Having this kind of discussion publically is another matter. Everybody here: Howard, Susan, the fat lady's club, is potentially exploiting the situation, promoting themselves as they publically discuss the fate of an innocent young girl. Put that aside for a minute.

Susan's telling the truth,. As much of the truth as there is to tell. She didn't say "look like me", and if you heard that, you're hearing something that was not said. And that's the problem. Sound health advice can sound like the usual negative messages, and so sound health advice is overlooked.

What I hope this poor girl did was get a good doctor, listen to him or her, and ignore everybody else.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-02-10

When she talks about being "lean" or "healthy", she gestures at her own body. It's subtle, but it's there.

Powter's schtick has always been "you are fat and unhealthy because you are mentally weak. Buy my videos and I'll teach you to be strong."

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

Well, that's subtle, all right. Even if the gesture means "be like me?", which seems like a stretch, do you really think it means "be the same size as me"?

Fuck Susan Powter, I'm only interested in defending her up to a point, and we're well past that. But I feel like you're reinforcing my initial point, which is that the discussion is broken. We're shaming people for having a health problem, and that makes legitimate honest discussion taboo.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-02-10

She's 100% right. No if's, and's, or but's. Being fat is not healthy and I'm so sick of the "fat acceptance" movement. I don't think these women realize that they can't do half the things a skinny woman can. That includes "be an actress in an industry that thrives on looks". Guess what. Obese people are great to look at for certain roles about people you don't want to be, like in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? but those roles are far and few between because God, who wants to look at that for two hours?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-10

Being "skinny" is not the goal here. Fat acceptance is one thing, but the fucked up body ideals really do have to be discarded. Gwenyth Paltrow has the genetics and she STILL has to eat disgusting shit to maintain that shape. Angelina Jolie is staring to look scary.

In the 30s, a group of Obstetricians and gynecologists issued a statement praising Mae West for promoting the natural fullness of the female figure. They called her "a boon to motherhood". Do we have any stars like that now? maybe doctors should start handing out awards, a health appropriate equivalent of People's yearly "Sexiest Man alive".

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-11

But you know, this is another level to how fucked up we are. With an obesity epidemic, doctors are probably reluctant to encourage women not to suffer for ridiculous skinniness, lest they be seen to be encouraging obesity.
