John Holmes Motherfucker - 2013-02-14

Coincidentally, I've been watching a lot of stuff about Paul Lynde on YouTube. I can remember when he was all over TV. Guest star on I dream of jeannie, Bewitched, and God knows what else.

It was weird. For some reason, when he wasn't playing himself, he was always playing the disgruntled conservative, and of course, since he was a huge homo, he could only play himself, on the sly, on "Hollywood Squares". He played a conservative lawyer with counterculture kids in "the Paul Lynde Show", which only lasted one season.

It's tragic how he drank himself to death. Today, he could have been himself, but he couldn't have been what he was, a pioneer.

We could use a Paul Lynde week. these things never happen when you try to force them, but I think I'll give it a try.

Well said, good sir. Lynde was a damn talented guy, and I feel we were sort of robbed of his true persona because he was born several decades too early to be able to share it with us.

He was one of my favorite people when I was a kid, and I had no idea how camp he was. I thought he was just a wacky adult.

He really was a comedic genius. His timing is impeccable, his reaction shots...the man was funny as hell.
