I agree. The drama on this show is a lot more believable and digestible than that on other reality shows. Some of the contestants are really fun people too. Also, I say any show that attempts to bring alternative lifestyles into view (however caricatured it may be) is a good thing.

As long as they don't start saying "She" and "her" with a straight face

Sympathizing with human beings who are not like you will only make you more interesting.

Or you could make the internet a boring place by burping up attitudes espoused by the generation currently dying of coronary thombrosis and diabetes.

Your pick!

Transphobia or "straight face" pun? It's a close call.

This wins.

Drag Race has done more to mainstream drag and ball culture, for better or worse, than anything else I can think of. Drag hasn't had a spotlight like this since "Paris is Burning." (Which any fan of Drag Race should see, by the way; it's on Netflix and YouTube.)

There are now middle-aged Southern housewives who have "my favorite drag queen" coffee talks. Picture that.

At best, pop culture alienates me. I have never watched reality television.

My favorite director is Werner Herzog.

I love RuPaul's drag race: and not in the guilty, ironic way that yuppie liberals in los angeles love other reality tv shows. RuPaul's Drag Race is amazing. Drag is the only subject that can allow reality television to convey new ideas and subvert the idea of fame.

the show itself is a mad narcissistic monolith to RuPaul herself: a scheming, cackling sorceress who has manipulated her progeny into competing for the right to sob for her approval.

She collects the drag queen tears in a crystal phial: an elixir that keeps her young.

You can't take it seriously. They don't. There is no competition. They are all heroes.
