This amateur sketch is good. Imagine how brass-balled SNL would have to be to air this, and they have worse sketches than this every episode.

Internet is actually pretty good here in Dublin.. 50Mb down is the lowest you can get on my provider and its super reliable and actually goes that fast.
Its funny that c. 15 years ago we had pretty much no internet here while USA was the internet mecca, and now it seems most of rest of the 1st world has greatly surpassed USAs aging system which has not been upgraded since. (I read some article recently about that too but have no idea where it is)

The only truly evil internet provider I've experienced is Time Warner.

When I (stupidly) failed to officially turn the account over to a roommate when I moved out, I started getting calls that it was hundreds of dollars past due. I told them to take it up with the roommate but in the mean time cancel the account. They told me they couldn't shut off the account until the balance was fully paid off and charges would keep incurring.

THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO STOP BEING CHARGED FOR A SERVICE UNTIL ALL THE CHARGES FOR A SERVICE WERE PAID.

AOL didn't die. It just rebranded.

?

How do you 'fail' to turn an account over to a roommate who presumably is still living at the place that is using the interwebs service provided by Time Warner?

And how does your ex-roommate receive bills in the mail that is presumably still being sent to the address he is living at and think he is somehow not responsible for paying a bill for a service that, at this point, only he is capable of using?

Was he like, "Oh, it's in FABIO's name, so I don't have to call the guy and say, 'hey, you're still getting stuff from Time Warner, is that why I can still watch all this internet porn? LOL'?" I'm not saying what TW did was nice, but it sounds like there's a lot more to the story.

When I canceled my service Time Warner told me to bring my cable box to the nearest service center, and we agreed I would bring it by the next week.

Starting immediately I would get between 6-20 phone calls a day that would immediately hang up when I answered and never left a message; turns out it was from TW. When I called them to ask them to stop crank calling me a dozen times a day, their customer service person flat out told me no and said the crank calls would continue until I returned the cable box.

When I asked her why she thought crank calling me 15 times a day was a good way to deal with customers her response was "well we got you to call back, didn't we?". Fuck Time Warner forever.

I had AT&T for just over two years until a few months ago. It started out okay and everything worked well enough for the first year or so, then things got progressively shitty.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when I called AT&T because my connection and my cable had been completely gone for three days (yes, three days). I was busy those days so it wasn't a huge deal to me and I figured they were just having some network fuckup and decided to give them THREE DAYS to fix it. Well, they didn't, so I called them. After spending a good two hours on the phone with people who didn't know what the fuck they were doing, I get told "Well, we're going to have to send a tech out to fix it. The soonest we'll be able to send a tech out is THREE MORE FUCKING DAYS FROM NOW". I said "Fuck this, I'm cancelling". I then get told I need to pay everything I owe them before I can cancel and I'll keep getting charged until I do. Anyway, after talking to enough different supervisors, I got my service cancelled and got 0 of the 0 I owed them credited.

I promptly called Wowway after I got off the phone with AT&T. I called them at around 3PM and they were able to send a tech out and get me up and running the same day. Yeah, a tiny single region of the US cable company was able to send a tech out to a brand new customer the same day but an international mega corporation wasn't able to send a tech out to a loyal paying two year customer for three days after three days of no service.

That being said, Wowway has been good so far and they've been easy to work with. I ran into a speed problem once so far but they were able to fix it over the phone in about five minutes, so I've got no complaints.

But yeah, fuck AT&T.

This guy's eyes are uneven. That must be weird to have on your face all the time.

I'm sure glad I can worry about the subscription price of my pornography dispenser instead of worrying about how I'm going to keep flies from laying eggs on my baby's eyeballs.

I have Insight Broadband, who some say funds genocides in third world countries. I have seen no evidence against this claim, but I remain alert to the possibility that they have help.
