Yeah that's pretty much child abuse in my scope of it.

It's a power play. It's offensive because this is perverse, it's a father's duty to discipline but it shouldn't be in the form of sadism. There is mental scarring occurring that's far more disturbing than any of the welts left. We allow it, pretend it doesn't happen to anyone who doesn't deserve it, and consume away.

Sadly, I think I was more disturbed reading some of the comments about this on other message boards. At least half of them were some variation of "Well, when I was a kid, I got it just as bad or worse, so this is TOTALLY okay!" Or "Good for Dad, he did something right!"

If beating your kids is the only way you can "raise them right," then you fucking suck as a parent.

If you guys want to be disgusted further, the comments on liveleak, at least as of a few days ago were primarily along the lines of applauding this father for doing the right thing etc etc.

i believe in some degree of corporal punishment but how can someone be so animated beating a cowering victim?

My mother used to ask us how many we deserved, make us stand, palms up and let fly with a wooden spoon or rubber mixing spatula. Sometimes, one extra lick or double (each palm). It didn't really hurt much, as your palms are pretty tough, but i always cried knowing that i genuinely upset her.

Now that i think about it was nowhere near as hard as i make my girlfriend hit me, now.
