Saying Far Cry 3 is "almost" like Call of Duty is like saying that Super Mario Bros. is almost like Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

i have played far cry 3 and most of the call of duty franchise. they both have the same aiming down sights (even the gun's recoil and spread is very similar), player movement is very similar, they both have knife lunging and one-shot knife kills, they both have real guns and ~gun customization~, they both have atrociously shitty deathmatch multiplayer, they both cater to the same audience.

they don't have a whole lot of differences other than that in far cry 3 you're in a sandbox and you have objectives. in call of duty you are not in a sandbox, and you have objectives. they also have different stories and settings(that really doesn't count as a difference in these shooters, this stuff isn't exactly story driven). sandbox games aren't actually a whole lot better than cowadootdoot when they're handled like that.


and yes, they both have rails, it is clearly displayed in this gameplay video.

far cry 3 is to call of duty as tostitos are to doritos. they look a little different. they taste a little different. but in the end they are both just junk food and you're meant to shove them in your mouth without a second thought to their quality or flavor.
