If you haven't watched this film yet, you absolutely need too.
The film's entire plot was seems like it was derived by Y.K Kim asking his 9 year old nephew one simple question: "What do you think is cool?" fter scrapping all the unworkable sub plots involving dinosaurs and robots, Kim had himself a workable movie within a 1 million dollar budget.
Workable... As long as they didn't actually have to pay to use any of the locations where they filmed. It seems as if the film's crew and stars had to break into places late at night in order to film their scenes. In particular, the scenes filmed in the Gym hideout spring to mind. It's as if they couldn't turn the lights on, or the cops would know there was something going on and shut the entire operation down.
Those are the best movies. Donald G. Jackson (Roller Blade, Hell Comes to Frogtown, Rock n Roll Cops, The Guns of El Chupacabra etc. etc.) used to find out where proper studios were filming in the desert outside LA and pretend to be the second unit so they could film nearby with no permits and then steal food from the catering truck.
