It should be noted that both the Republican *and* Democratic candidates in the last gubernatorial election supported the personhood amendment.

Mississippi is fucked.

They put it up for a vote by the people and it was defeated. Now they're playing this game where they threaten to pass it legislatively. Their current tactic is to require any physician performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital. This is a catch 22. There is only one "abortion clinic" in Mississippi and it is in the state capital of Jackson. There are no public hospitals in Jackson, only ones run by Ole Miss and Baptists. "Abortion doctors" are simply not allowed admitting privileges at these hospitals. So far, this trick has been shot down by courts, but all they need is one win.

Just fived my own video, sorry.

The God of Biscuits - 2013-04-29

The worst state.

Nominal - 2013-04-29

Louisiana? Arizona? Florida?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-04-29

It's okay, they can all have a turn. It's a bit like watching a game of musical chairs where the last chair is covered in shit and has several thumbtacks in the seat and yet the morons playing are getting into a fistfight over who gets to plant their ass on it.

kingarthur - 2013-04-29

I've lived in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arizona. Louisiana wins not the worst state prize by virtue of not being Mississippi. And there is limited opportunity in New Orleans and the ability to flee for Texas if you have to (then again: Texas). Arizona has some great people in Tucson and Prescott and Flagstaff and even Phoenix. It's just that shit seems to float there.

memedumpster - 2013-04-29

Arizona is the only place I've ever been to that made me dearly miss Kentuckians. There are complete irredeemable assholes, and then there's Arizonans.

Chocolate Jesus - 2013-04-29

Hunter S Thompson described Phoenix this way:

"What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die. Who knows? If there is in fact, a heaven and a hell, all we know for sure is that hell will be a viciously overcrowded version of Phoenix — a clean well lighted place full of sunshine and bromides and fast cars where almost everybody seems vaguely happy, except those who know in their hearts what is missing... And being driven slowly and quietly into the kind of terminal craziness that comes with finally understanding that the one thing you want is not there. Missing. Back-ordered. No tengo."

Has this been Mississippi week or something?

Pillager - 2013-04-29

What can I say? It's a great hotspot of evil.

Also, it's a welcome relief from gang stalker vids.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-04-29

Unless Mississippi has targeted individuals.

Maybe they call them "y'all-stalkers?"

Sanest Man Alive - 2013-04-29

Mississippi has plenty of targeted individuals.

They're called black people.

memedumpster - 2013-04-29

What's the active verb form of "fascist?"

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2013-04-29

Interesting question, that.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-04-29

What is the issue guys? Someone led by the lord is clearly infallible in their judgement.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2013-04-29

That's one hell of a preview image. The New Yorker did a big article on him. While it made him seem driven and unpleasant in the way that a lot of political people often are, it failed to inform the reader that the reader that he was absolutely bugfuck insane. The New Yorker was oddly cool with Michael Savage, too, a few years ago. Journalistic remove should probably have some limits, and those guys, in my humble opinion, are probably beyond it.

cognitivedissonance - 2013-04-29

Better to rule in Hell than compromise bipartisanly in Washington.
