HOLY FUCK

The Mothership - 2013-04-30

goddamn.

chumbucket - 2013-04-30

loss of all available lift

fedex - 2013-04-30

This just happened yesterday. Al Qaeda/Taliban immediately tried to take credit for it, so US officials felt obliged to release this dashcam video of the entire incident to show the reality of the situation. Crazy.

fedex - 2013-04-30

Also, the total silence of the guy in the truck is what freaks me out. He says nothing except a single solitary "Fuck" about halfway through. FWIW it was a cargo flight with vehicles and the current thinking is that the cargo shifted suddenly to the rear of the aircaraft, causing the stall.

TSR - 2013-04-30

I guess that's the response of someone who sees horrible shit everyday.

EvilHomer - 2013-04-30

What TSR said. Afghanistan's still not a very nice place to be, for military personnel or civilian contractors.

Also, a lot of these guys are OEF/OIF vets, so by this point in their lives, a simple "fuck" pretty much sums it up.

fedex - 2013-04-30

yeahhh I kinda buy that, having known some PTSD vets, but I would think a 747 crashing and exploding in front of even the more calloused soldiers might possible elicit a slow whistle, or even a loud exhalation.

I'm picturing this guys face and it scares me.

RockBolt - 2013-04-30

I don't know how else you could react, you're basically are watching the living dead hanging in the air for the last few seconds of their lives and all you get to do is watch every agonizing moment. I can only imagine the stomach chilling experience of being in the presence of this would be.

erratic - 2013-04-30

youtube's conspiracy theorists already out on this one. I saw a comment stating that the guy's silence is evidence of him being in on it somehow.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-04-30

It's amazing how every tragedy has to be a conspiracy and somehow affecting these narcissistic assholes, because the universe revolves around them, isn't it?

godot - 2013-04-30

Looks like the civilian pilot attempted a climbout at way too high an angle and stalled. Or maybe there was some load shifting to the rear.

The flight line is at a thin 5000 feet, but the valley is flat for at least 12 miles in either direction, so there's plenty of room here for a lower angle, higher airspeed ascent,

It was a 747-400 cargo plane loaded with vehicles, and a crew from Michigan (pilot just married). Might have pulled this off in a C-17.

sosage - 2013-04-30

This is exactly how I picture planes crashing in my nightmares. I always told myself upon waking up that planes don't crash like that.

fourthguy - 2013-04-30

I have nightmares just like this too. It's weird to actually see it.

fedex - 2013-04-30

Same here, interesting how this is a shared memedream.
Must be a byproduct of our modern age....

Potrod - 2013-04-30

Add another to the "planes crashing like this" nightmares crew. The worst part of the dream is always the "Oh no!" when you realize something is going terribly wrong, which this video captures perfectly.

takewithfood - 2013-04-30

Never had that nightmare before. Probably will now.

fedex - 2013-04-30

planes crashing into flying sharks!
