No, I will not watch at this point. I value my sanity thank you very much. I saw enough in the first 20 seconds to know how this is going to go down. Just take these stars so we both can be happy.

themilkshark - 2013-05-06

This is... Not bad

Hodge - 2013-05-06

Not bad? I couldn't last 20 seconds. I've seen flash animations from the 90s that was likely made by a single teenager that lived in his parent's basement that looked and sounded better then this.

Triggerbaby - 2013-05-06

The only aspect of this thing that could be considered "not bad" is the voice acting, which is surprisingly decent. Every other aspect is deeply and obviously bad.

Old_Zircon - 2013-05-06

No, the voice acting is horrible, it's just that cheap microphones have gotten better.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-05-06

No this is definitely bad.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-05-06

I'm impressed they did a full (nearly) half hour. Most animation of this "quality" barely makes it past the trailer stage.

Old People - 2013-05-06

What kind of horrible fat girl did they find to do that voice? What sort of woman would lend herself to this project?

EvilHomer - 2013-05-06

Everything about this is bad. The writing, the acting, the animation, the choice of colors on the big-titted skunk lady tulpa he's trying to molest, bad bad bad.

I've seen some anime that qualifies as "not bad". I've seen some brony fanimation that is "not bad". Hell, I've probably seen some Sonic the Hedgehog flash cartoons that weren't bad, either, although I can't think of any at the moment.

The only positive thing I can say about this is that they managed to produce more material than Wolf: TAF. And it's nice to see furries getting in on the whole tulpa thing; here I was, thinking it was exclusively brony territory.

This is most definitely NOT not bad. Five stars!

Toenails - 2013-05-06

"Not bad" might be in the eye of the beholder, but there are several ways this is "not bad" and several ways this is "way way bad".

To get the bad stuff out of the way, this guy couldn't write a coherent storyline without cribbing an old manga series to save his life. As soon as I saw the skunk, all I could see was Video Girl Ai, and if you are going to straight rip off a manga, why in God's name would you want to rip off trash like Video Girl Ai?!?

Everything before that was so disjointed that the only thing I was able to take away was that the main character hates his lot in life (Why he does is still a mystery to me, maybe because he wears a stupid looking helmet?).

The artwork is goddamn atrocious. If I'm going to insert a myself in a story of my own, you best be sure that I'd never think that a muscular dude with DragonBall Z expressions would be even remotely acceptable. There were times where I was almost able to convince myself that this was an artistic direction, but then I felt so ashamed for lying to myself like that.

"I am Mike the Hardcore + Awesome"

Ugh.

But for all those faults, holy moley this guy can write voice like a motherfucker. None of the lines were forced. Everyone was perfectly able to say sentences like a normal human being would in real life. Hell, even some of the throwaway gags were actually funny because they came off so naturally.

Even the dialog between the Furry and the actual Furry was good. I did sense some chemistry, if only because of each other's delivery and not from the atrocious script they shared.

And as for the animation, I'm still mystified how a guy can not draw a person to save his life, but he's able to get the nuances of expression and gestures like a beast. Which was why I tried to convince myself that his artwork was suppose to be terrible on purpose. This conundrum still keeps me up at night.

Bad or not, and I'm still on the fence about this, he get's 5 either way.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-05-06

His description says "TV-MA." Any souls brave enough to find out exactly how that's the case?

Hodge - 2013-05-06

Spoiler: It's going to end with bestiality against imaginary animals.

Disaster - 2013-05-06

Why is he wearing a helmet?

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2013-05-06

The maker of this cartoon, if a random Tumblr search is to be believed, owns that helmet in real life.

This factoid seems plausible.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-05-06

It'd look great with a Sonichu amulet.

BiggerJ - 2013-05-06

Factual error detected on the internet. From http://archive.foolz.us/co/thread/48978954/#q48992418 :

"That’s not a helmet. It’s a felt hat with ears sewed on. You can buy it (sans ears) in most University stores."

There's still the ears thing. So he's got that going against him. Which is... something.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2013-05-07

Is "Mike Chenoweth" Warren "The Ape" DeMontague's tulpa?

kennydra - 2013-05-06

Why do I not hate this. KENNYDRA GOES CRAZY.

Rafiki - 2013-05-06

I can't write, direct, animate, or act. Think I'll create and star in my own cartoon!

Also, the description is wrong. Only skip to 7:15 or you'll miss out!

Notes from his classmate:

>Imagine this: You’re sitting in your animation history class. Your professor says that your classmate who sits two empty seats away from you is going to show his animation. Joy!
>Then, projected ten feet tall in glorious HD, is an autobiographical piece about his life problems and his manic pixie dream girl purple skunk girlfriend. Complete with fade to black sex. And masturbation scene.
>Imagine that and you will know a fraction of my pain.
>first: please don’t leave comments at all ok? Remember this guy is pretty much anonymous and I worry about him
>Ok now: A lot of people are asking, “why?” or “how?” and things to that effect. Here we go.
>1. This is not an animation school at all. This was a film class. Our film school emphasizes film theory, history, and screenwriting. We do a lot of live action production too, but animation and… drawing in general fall thought the cracks. We have a bit of it, but it’s not much. (We also have an art school, yay big universities, but it likes gallery art WAY more.) The fact that any animation happened at all is amazing (that it was this was… unfortunate).
>2. I think people might be enabling him? Nobody I know really feels comfortable confronting him on it. He’s not a jerk, he’s nice… really awkward, wouldn’t want to hang out with him even without the video, but nice. And he said intelligent things during class.
>3. Those of you who saw it know there was a sequence where he’s in class and a professor is talking about rectangles. That was voiced by an actual professor, who also happened to be teaching the animation class. He sounded pretty pleased by it. Can’t tell where the pleasure came from. (He’s a great professor, though. He’s fun and casual, but he still teaches complex subjects really well. Then he does shit like this.)
>4. The class…. people were laughing in places where the jokes were. Again, I have no idea what they were thinking when they were watching it. I’m only close to one person who was in that class— she looked down and started writing a paper a couple minutes in because she is mentally strong. In any case, the mood was high.
>5. He seemed pretty pleased with the final product, and embarrassed the way anyone would be when they’re presenting their work to a large group. The entire process would have been unremarkable if it wasn’t for the content and the quality.
>6. That’s not a helmet. It’s a felt hat with ears sewed on. You can buy it (sans ears) in most University stores.

He also posted in the thread as ClassmateAnon.

BiggerJ - 2013-05-06

Crap, that wasn't supposed to be a reply.

BlisteredButtress - 2013-05-07

Better than Problem Solverz

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-05-07

It was hard to jerk off to this. He needed more closeups of her face.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-05-08

Which was about 75% eyeballs.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-05-08

EXACTLY.
