It certainly was a different episode.

I don't know, that pizza looks pretty soggy to me. But then, I grew up in a town that's 30% Sicilian.

RocketBlender - 2013-05-16

You beat me to it. I grew up in Chicago, so maybe I think different, but if it's not deep dish, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to easily pick up a slice.

I love how he says it looks great, picks up a slice that almost flops over, and has to dangle it over his mouth just to take a bite.

CT Pizzafag, reporting for duty!

Had they shown up with pizza looking like this anywhere near my old 'hood, those clowns would be sleeping with the fishes.

Can someone explain the whole thing about it being a money laundering front? By the time I started paying attention the whole Reddit thread had been scrubbed (which I can appreciate). Was there evidence or is it just speculation based on a disbelief that such nutcases could possibly be running such a nice looking restaurant for years on end?

Cena_mark - 2013-05-16

I think its speculation based on Foreign Accent Guy with tons of money = Mafia.

During the Kitchen Nightmares segment, he also frequently referred to himself as a "gangster".

Which should be a clear sign that he's not actually one. On the other hand, he does appear to be quite stupid.

I doubt they're a front, but on facebook a lot of the local business in Arizona have been coming forward about the fact they sell product to their store and that most of the stuff they claimed to make themselves (cakes and such) was actually sold to them by other places. One of the things I missed when I watched Kitchen Nightmares is that this place is in Scottsdale, which explains a lot. I dunno if any of you here are from Arizona or live there, but I've been to Phoenix a few times and Scottsdale is within easy driving and that place is like walking into another world. Scottsdale is sort of like the Beverly Hills of Phoenix and the people there are really out of touch and sort of lost in their wealth, at least in my experience.

I fucking knew it! Me and Crab Mentality were talking about this last night; how fucking bad is it when we just assume that the one good thing about the restaurant, the one thing the show didn't pick apart, couldn't possibly be their own work?

Nice to have proof to back it up, but I fucking knew.

chumbucket - 2013-05-16

Obviously they were NOT "ready".

The New Meat - 2013-05-16

I was, indeed, wowed.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-05-16

That anchor with the pizza must feel stupid now.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-05-17

The fact that they were able to elicit sympathy a number of times from the media is testament to their ability to lie through their teeth. As in compulsive lying. Wow.

Reading all the stories on the Internet about this (I can't get enough!) I have to say that it may be horrible for them to lose their shitty awful restaurant, but it has brought America together as a nation like nothing else since 9/11.
