Any time the words "...end of the world," "vortex," and "intense sucking force" are found in the same description of a real life event, you know you have a winner.
The narrator seems to realize how ridiculous the whole situation is: "The cause of the disaster was never officially determined, since all the evidence was at the bottom of a 1500-foot water-filled salt mine."
Awesome. That's a man of east-Asian heritage speaking with a Louisiana accent. Since the lake opened up into a salt mine, now there are salt-water fish species living in it. Awesome.
The saltwater is actually mostly what washed in from the Gulf. The mine itself was dissolved into oblivion and now the once 6 foot deep lake is 1300 feet deep. Essentially a cavernous underground mine got transformed into a giant surface mine pit and then flooded in 2 days. Way to go Petroleum Engineers! Verify where you are drilling next time!
