If you want to talk about white pride and feel obligated to say "but not like the KKK", blame the KKK for sullying the concept of white pride in the first place. Your very first sentence is you whining about a double standard for racial pride among white people versus minorities. That you think there is a double standard implies that you see racial minority "pride" and white "pride" as in some sense equivalent. Since you've shown a tendency in the past to pontificate on things with actually doing any research on them, I assumed you knew nothing about this guy and his white student union. I then mentioned what a sham white pride is. I can see how white pride and--say--asian pride could be confusing, the names sound similar!

The fact you didn't respond with any sort of substantive criticism and instead went pure ad hominem would seem to indicate even you, at some level, understand this.

Also, you might want to check your privilege. You live in a culture largely controlled by white people. If you don't understand why a member of a minority group might want to have pride in their own culture and identity and not completely assimilate, it might just be that you're a member of the dominant culture and have no perspective. FACT: To Americans, racism (sexism too) is generally a culturally acceptable feature of cultures worldwide. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, South American, Italian, Russian, Israeli, Iranian all are far more racist than America but it's generally seen as a quaint idiosyncrasy that is impolite to criticize. Within American immigrant and nonwhite populations racism is also alive and well. Listening to Latinos talk about black people is like time traveling back to the jim crow era. Chinese cinema portrays Japan in a blackface like grotesque. 'White Girl' is more or less seen as an insult because of hiphop culture. Anti-Korean racism in the black community of Los Angeles fomented tensions during the LA Riots. Ever heard Ice Cube's song 'Black Korea'. PSSSH Black people can't be racist! Sure, there are plenty of white racists too, but they get called on and hated for it.


All of these people, the whole world really, gets to be racist. White Americans are the only ones who get demonized for it: all white americans and usually the ones who have little or no cultural history with it.
