The DNI set a new standard for testimony when he opined that "I gave least untruthful answer possible on NSA surveillance"

Its rare that so many words are said to say nothing of meaning. Oh and its so disgustingly polite too.

Why can't people like this ever be caught not sleeping with their wives? Seems like they never have to answer to anything, and are basically unfireable until they have unchristian sex.

Sounds completely rational to me.
What's irrational is how people are suddenly outraged that the NSA exists, when their rage could be more usefully directed at the OUTSOURCING of our most valuable intelligence tasks to a for-profit shadow corporation.

This will likely get lost in the noise. I do not believe a mid-level GS is a threat to my liberty, but some shifty, self-righteous, delusional jackass who works for said corporation, who happens to have a hot narcissistic girlfriend who is obsessed with the idea of international intrigue and "adventure," is much, much scarier.

There are likely people that actually believe that their posts on Facebook on the Tea Party fanpage are being read by the NSA, that those posts are being sent to the IRS, and that they are being victimized by a police state.

I'd be mad too if I spent 25 solid years telling stank hippies and other idiots their conspiracy theories were retarded, only to find out they're true and the person I voted for (twice) makes them true.

I've also become increasingly uncomfortable of late at the criticism leveled towards the Left that we're all okay with fascism so long as it's aimed at the Right. This is generally true too. Put two and two together and you see a time when the Democrats are wife swapping with the Republicans again to switch sides. Happens every few dozen years, it's neat.

By 2035, if this country still exists (50/50 there), Democrats are going to be the entrenched fascist party, as Republicans were 4 - 30 years ago.

No doubt. Political parties are complex creatures hellbent on their own preservation. They don't care about ideology.
