Jesus, look at that scientology rep. He looks like the deranged Joker henchman Harvey Dent tortures in The Dark Knight.

These are the guys who's parody site was recently shut down by Scientology legal threats. Seems the first thing to go in the cults brainwashing is your sense of humor.

Gmork - 2013-06-19

Beck is my guilty pleasure. Im usually vehemently anti-scientology, but I have my own little justification fantasy where just like a modern-day child born to Catholic parents, he simply "goes along with it" because he knows the consequences of being vocally dissentious and does his own thing after convincing everyone else he's brainwashed like them.

I like to think has no place in his mind for actual scientology nonsense. Someone as smart as him has to have figured out it was bullshit early on, am I right?

Seems like his music would have to define him more than the fact his dad happened to be friends with L-Ron.

Chancho - 2013-06-19

Yeah he's probably a really cool guy. If someone as cool as Beck is into Scientology, maybe you should check it out?

That guy - 2013-06-19

Once you admit him as a guilty pleasure, you really don't need to defend it.

memedumpster - 2013-06-19

Why hasn't radical Islam declared Jihad on these people yet? They must be in on it.

Riskbreaker - 2013-06-19

Seriously, isn't muhamad pissed about worshiping space aliens?

fatatty - 2013-06-19

Now that's a religious war I can get behind.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-06-20

I just imagined Scientology space battle cruisers opening fire on a flotilla of Muslim cargo freighters.

Quad9Damage - 2013-06-19

Can someone explain to me what legal grounds there were to remove the site? Can lawyers use the Jedi mind trick if they're paid enough whackadoo cult money?

See the Electronic Frontier Foundation's story on the take down.

Apparently GoDaddy is easily intimidated.

"Pointing to the presence of CSI logos and a photograph of Mr. Miscavige on the site, CSI told GoDaddy the site violated CSI’s copyright and trademark rights, and asked the company to take it down. GoDaddy promptly complied. CSI also claimed that the creators of the site had violated California Penal Code section 528.5, which forbids the credible impersonation of a human person online. Section 528.5 was intended to be used to combat cyberbullying; as we anticipated, however, it’s now being used to target political speech."

That guy - 2013-06-19

The fact that a tax-exempt religion has copyrights and trademarks that it uses to intimidate free speech should have everyone rolling over in their graves. The mere idea that the Scientology clone thinks it's illegal for people to impersonate church members is infuriating to me.
If Scientology isn't a plague on our country, what is?

Stars for that.

That CA penal code will not stand up to a challenge, no way.
