Not sure it's been established anybody as a RIGHT to sex. Stars for that ridiculous concept.

zerdzer - 2013-07-10

yep, pretty ridiculous

memedumpster - 2013-07-10

We don't have a right to anything on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Rights, by their very nature, are delusional, unenforceable, ink based lip service given to useless parchment.

Blue - 2013-07-10

I don't think it's so ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to pay a prostitute to wipe your ass, but they make an exception for that with disabled people. I don't think anybody has the right to sex from other people, but I think they do have the right to jerk off.

Of course, I think anybody should be able to pay for it. And people already do. In fact, the idea of trading sex for sex is relatively new. About a century ago, fucking your husband would get you room, board, and hopefully some spending money but if you wanted to get off you had to go to the doctor. It wasn't even common knowledge that women were getting off on that sexually until about the 20s when pornography started including vibrators and they stopped advertising them in the Sears Roebuck catalog.

Today, we even have websites where women that want to fuck for compensation can meet wealthy individuals and set up such an arrangement, which seems a hell of a lot more ethical than women who do essentially the same thing without telling their husbands. Also, you can straight up fuck for money on camera. Why is this one kind of prostitution illegal?

It's obvious from the lack of required condom use in porn that it's not safety. It's obvious from the way Nevada treats it's prostitutes that it isn't about protecting prostitutes from exploitation. If you look at the laws, though, a lot of them are to prevent the johns from running into the women they pay for sex outside of the brothels. In some areas you can be arrested for driving your own car in the same area that you work. Literally your employer will have to escort you into and out of the county.

That's bullshit. I have a right to fuck consenting partners for whatever reason I want.

Blue - 2013-07-10

Also, how we treat disabled people is fucking bullshit, too. This isn't just about people that can't find sex.

Some people can't get into bed by themselves. When they have a similarly disabled partner, they still need help into bed. Asshole family members have been known to object to their family member having sex and had their wishes honored.

Even when a disabled person is pursuing someone that can have sex with them, there are still problems. Gay people can find themselves living in facilities that do not allow same sex relationships. Even straight people sometimes report that staff actively work against them forming new relationships.

Oh, but the biggest thing is safety. When you're able-bodied, an incompetent sex partner just gives you an unenjoyable experience. For many disabled people, they can get serious injuries if their partner doesn't know what they're doing. Often, these people can easily find partners on the Internet but would prefer a professional for safety reasons.

this stuff makes me very sad :(

Mother_Puncher - 2013-07-10

Make a tumblr about it, Blue

RocketBlender - 2013-07-11

I'm in camp 'fucking ridiculous'. With the level of entitlement these days, the last fucking thing we need is to declare sex or masturbation to be a state-appointed right. Fuck no.

candyheadrobot - 2013-07-11

Okay, I'm gonna be weird and offer my weird badly formulated opinion that no one asked for like usual.

I think this is good direction to move into, only maybe not implimented in the same manner as these people seem to advocate. As a person who thinks that sex for pleasure is actually a human need, I think that something like this should be available for the disabled should they desire it, especially considering that most people aren't willing to have sex with them due to their conditions and needs. Hired by the government, or working in an agency, I think that sex workers should be readily available to the disabled, who themselves should be able to use whatever means they have to fulfill that need.

Of course this is also an extension of how we still view sex socially, which still seems to be rooted in 1950's culture, and entirely unhealthy in general imo. I guess I really say all that to say: all sexual occupations should be legalized and legitimized. Not everyone can go to a bar and hookup, or wants to start a life with every person they sleep with, so unless sex becomes like Facebook, there has to be a viable alternative for people to meet their sexual needs. People already spend an incalculable amount of money on porn every year, and sex trade is occuring regardless of laws, why not open it up to be safer and not shady?

End dum dum rant I forgot to post at 1am

RocketBlender - 2013-07-11

I have no problem with commercial sexual services, a person should be able to do what they want with their body and their money. I just don't think it should be a state-appointed right and service. Aside from other issues, can you imagine the kind of abuse this system would see in today's age of entitlement?

RocketBlender - 2013-07-11

Thinking about it as well, a prostitute has the option to turn down a valiant for any reason. I can't think of a good system to put in place to protect sex workers who get appointed a completely insufferable client.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-07-10

Weird internet fetishists, get on this and make some disabled people happy!

Spaceman Africa - 2013-07-10

Well that was creepy.

Tasso - 2013-07-15
