In the name of all that is good and wholesome, somebody please tell me this is bullshit.

Please, please tell me a professional news organization did not catch this before it went on the air.

Define "professional"...

That's all the news for the night, I'm Sum Dum Ho, signing off.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-07-12

Jesus, this is just so soul-crushing, I can't even enjoy the schadenfreude of it being on a FOX affiliate.

It's a good thing that it wasn't a Vietnam Airlines flight, or they'd have to give the families of the victims a lot of dongs.

William Topaz McGonagall - 2013-07-12

Since they're Korean, we'll just have to give them a lot of Coke.

Gmork - 2013-07-12

How can you say it with a straight face?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-07-13

"dong" in Korean actually means neighborhood or block.

This entire thing is depressing.

chumbucket - 2013-07-12

Oh My God

Keep in mind:
One person reported this.
Another wrote it into the anchor's script.
Another created the graphic.
Another saw the graphic before it aired.
Another authorized the graphic to be put on the air.
Another switched the graphic on.
Another's job was to specifically watch for any mistakes and take evasive action in the case of such a trainwreck (or planewreck?)

All of them could potentially be fired for letting this happen.
None of them thought "hrm, where have I heard these names before?"

Koda Maja - 2013-07-13

None of the above people are likely paid enough to give a fuck.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-07-13

Bob, I want all my garmonbozia (pain and suffering)

If none of them read this out loud before going on the air with it, it really doesn't seem that implausible to me. The best part is that everybody probably heard it at the same time as she was reading. I think you can see the beginning of the horrible realization on the anchor's face, as they cut away.

Mmmm delicious! Thank you, Bob!

memedumpster - 2013-07-13

For fuck's sake, humans.
