I'm hoping for "loses hegemony" rather than "collapse." Besides, it's not like the Kocks couldn't easily leave the country and set up their corporate haven somewhere else without breaking a sweat.

America wont let itself continue to exist as anything but the dominant empire of the earth. If it loses control, it will end itself to remove the competition of future endeavors by the rich to rule the planet. That being said, I remain hopeful that other countries will slay these fucks in the streets. I hope they move to France first, and half of them don't make it to Britain while Germany denies any American rich ever tried to live there at all, while disposing of their bodies in Somalia.

I think even these assholes realize fucking over the middle and lower classes is bad, numbers-wise.

That doesn't overcome their apparent hatred of those who haven't become rich. They might know that overall, they're helping sink humanity, but it won't keep THEM from living in the lap of luxury, and it feeds into their prejudices about the 99% (they're poor because they don't work hard, so I should pay them less, making them poor, because they don't work hard, etc.).

I think some of it is the whole, "you don't work hard enough, so you don't deserve money, I hate you", but I think another philosophy amongst this lot is, "We were smart enough (or inherited the means) to game the system and you didn't. I gots mine...and I'll take all of yours as well cause I can. Tough shit you're one of the dumb, unwashed masses.".

These people gamed the system so badly that they broke it and tilted it completely in their favor. They can now move the goal posts wherever they want and any rules/regulations that would fix and reset some of the damage is tore up before it hits the table...or there is something in place to make it ineffectual...or the rule's final version has so many loopholes that nothing changes...or the penalties are so miniscule and insignificant that there is no reason to not reap the rewards of breaking the rule...

I think we're well beyond ever fixing this shit. We're just riding the whims of a group that wants to see how much they can get away with. OR this shit has been broken for so long, that we just conveniently notice it in our age of immediate information and self surveillance?

Can we just, I dunno, abolish money now? For a while there it seemed like a really great idea to have a medium of exchange for goods and services, but it's not really working out anymore. Oh well, back to barter until we find something else!
