The outrage was mostly because this is a horrible game and a waste of good material. It had the opportunity to not just a crappy tie-in. For myself, it was because it started to undo Alien 3 and everything that followed afterward and then pussied out.

Also because Randy Pitchford is a piece of shit who used the money Sega gave them for this to fund Borderlands 2, lied to them and gamers by passing off mocked-up footage as actual gameplay, and then after spending the entire dev cycle gushing about how it was a passion project he tried to pass the buck by blaming it all on subcontractors.

There wasn't an outrage over this game because of how it messed with the canon, the outrage was that it was just a shitty game and a waste of the Aliens franchise. The stupid plot is pretty much the least of this game's problems. It literally plays exactly like an FPS from the 90s or something....it feels like the barest minimum of effort was spent on the actual engine and gameplay while apparently a surprising amount of effort was spent on modeling the levels and maintaining some authenticity to the movies. And, putting aside the schoolyard "nerd" taunts, WWD is correct in that this game was effectively shelved by Gearbox so they could put money into the Borderlands games. Borderlands 1 and 2 and all the DLC was basically paid for by Sega. A lot of this info came from employees who were laid off when Sega briefly cut off money to Gearbox, but other people have hinted at it as well. Michael Biehn gave an interview not long ago where he talked about how no one at Gearbox seemed to give a single shit about the game and where it was heading and they just wanted him to do the voice acting quickly (very few re-takes) and get out.

A company defrauded a bigger company seems like a small deal for people not directly involved. Especially since it resulted in Borderlands 2, which is apparently a really good game?

Borderlands 2 is an amazing game and my one regret is that they didn't funnel still more money away from Colonial Marines.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I liked Hicks. I'm glad he's fine.

Maybe next they can retcon it so Hudson didn't die? He was actually found by a family of Aliens, who nursed him back to health and adopted him, raising him as one of their own. Later, he becomes the first human to be taught the secret martial arts of the Alien people, and is accepted into their society as a Master Hunter.

His Big Reveal comes when he leads an armada of Aliens to Earth, and everyone's like, oh no, shit, Aliens, we're doomed. But then just as all the human marines are lining up ready to fire their space guns, Hudson jumps out of the Alien's spaceship and says "Game ON, man! GAME ON!!!!" Then the Aliens and the humans join forces and together they save the universe from the Cylons.

That would have been a vastly better use for the retarded budget of Alien vs Predator.

Actually I remember reading ALIENS VS PREDATOR VS TERMINATOR, a comic wherein it was revealed that the Skynet wars led into the corporate hell that led into Weyland Yuntai, and then the corporation just rewrote history after that. OR it was the other way around, where corporate hell led into Skynet, THEN after they beat back the robots, they rewrote history. Either way, the Terminator punched THROUGH a Predator, then proceeded to trick like thirty different xenos into trying to facehug a robot.

I feel like that movie should have been made, just to get it out of everyone's system.

Alien 3 is a stinky, steaming mess. I think I hate it even more than Alien Resurrection. What I read online suggests that Ridley Scott likes and respects Aliens and virtually disowns the rest of the franchise films. I think I will too.

Ridley Scott can't talk anymore, thanks to Prometheus we all know he would have tanked the franchise at Aliens. Cameron is the only reason that franchise lived on. All of this, all of the whole of fandom across novels, games, posters, tee shirts, coffee mugs, that's James Cameron's Aliens.
