I'd even go a step further, and say that there *might* be some smart women who watch The View, women who watch it ironically, for the express purpose of raging at what a pack of fuckwits the hosts are. I mean, I've seen The View a couple times, and these viewings have always been a direct result of some jaw-dropping stupidity that generates online buzz - like that time Sherri Shepard thought the world was flat.

We all like laughing at retards and feeling like we're superior to others. That's what keeps at least half of our celebrity culture industry afloat. The View gives smart, educated women an opportunity to do this, in a very sisterly atmosphere.

I never thought about it that way before. So the women of the View get paid to make women feel better about their intelligence, and are totally unaware of their real purpose in life?

Watching that show, it's like you are instantly an intellectual Gulliver in the land of giggling, illiterate Liliputians.

Smart women might not WANT to be on The View at this point. I think it'd take a special kind of smart, the kind that can manage to not boil over at the rampant ignorance on display (as the audience would turn on the smart one, for being 'bitchy' or something) and make comments that seem, to the average viewer, to be pleasant, but which are actually cutting and sarcastic if you have more than a high school diploma in your possession.

That show, along with Oprah, is a master class on the "I know everything I need to know" attitude that is really hurting this country.

I think that some of the women on the View (Barbara, Whoopi, Joy) are reasonably intelligent, but sort of obnoxious. They may be going for a reality show train wreck. No doubt somebody is going to tell Jenny off. I might be willing to tune in for that.

I worked in master control at an ABC affiliate, partly on the day shift, back when Star Jones was on the View. I could take brainless kids' shows, repetitive infomercials, absurd soaps, but Jesus Christ, the fucking View was like cats scratching their claws on a chalkboard while mating.

Parents who don't vaccinate their kids for any reasons, other than legitimate medical ones, should be reported to CPS. I really don't understand how this is any different from hitting them with a belt; the old folks I've talked to who actually had mumps, pertussis, etc. would have preferred a medieval ass-whoopin'.
