It takes a special sort of scumbag to turn MLK into a force for discrimination.

CornOnTheCabre - 2013-08-08

Or, you know, someone who paid attention to what Martin Luther King, the person, actually believed outside of the dehumanizing Magic Black Man narrative that has effectively swallowed his legacy whole.

http://www.issues4life.org/blast/2011094.html

"Your problem is not at all an uncommon one. However, it does require careful attention. The type of feeling that you have toward boys is probably not an innate tendency, but something that has been culturally acquired. … You are already on the right road toward a solution, since you honestly recognize the problem and have a desire to solve it."

MLK isn't able to be used as an excuse to judge homosexuals because of some abhorrent right wing agenda of obfuscation and half-truths, he's able to be used as an excuse to judge homosexuals because HE JUDGED HOMOSEXUALS.

Klingenschmitt is a hatemongering shithead who is probably responsible for a lot of ugliness and backwards thinking in this country, but he's just a man. MLK was a great man who is undoubtedly responsible for a lot of positive change in this country, but he too, was just a man. so long as we cling to our precious images of "good people" and "evil people" that allow us to indulge in the basest thrills of tribal mentality and the ephemeral, wholly subjective shield of "having your heart in the right place," we will fail in our social responsibility to objectively analyze the hurt we cause each other, intentional or no, and we will continue to find new ways to justify avoiding the steps we can take to remedy that hurt.

A pro-lifer web site? Really?

Did they happen to mention that King was OK having an openly gay Bayard Rustin organize the March on Washington? Maybe you overlooked that part.

I really only used that site because it was the first one I found that paid much attention to citing its sources, as Ebony isn't all that involved in the business of online archiving. And sure, while MLK was a surprisingly strong advocate for birth control as a 1960s Southern Baptist, his admiration for Margaret Sanger is always going to be tempered by the fact that Sanger was always an ardent supporter of contraception, not abortion. so, insinuating that MLK wasn't pro-life is just another example of my point, really...

Cockmaster Flash - 2013-08-08

You seem oddly obsessed with proving that MLK didn't like the gays and would have discriminated against them.

The sources you cite don't give a shred of evidence that he would have, and the one closest to revealing a negative attitude, the Ebony letter response, has obviously been edited (ellipses tend to be a bit of a giveaway).

How about you come up with a source that shows he would support discrimination against gays? It would be a bit of a feat if you did, since according to Equally Wed, Hoover's FBI couldn't find anything.

CornOnTheCabre - 2013-08-08

I'm not trying to prove MLK would've been a tireless advocate against gay rights, I'm merely reiterating that, as Coretta King said, he never took a bullet for homosexuals. He never made his position clear, and sure, there are plenty of good reasons for that, given the time he lived in and the urgency of his mission, but I'm not going to pretend that he had nothing but respect for homosexuals just because that'd make for a happier ending.

Meanwhile, you seem oddly content with "he had a gay friend!/he worked with a gay person!" brand of dismissing any possible bigotry, while defending the everloving hell out of his advice to this boy to seek a gay cure. and yes, that is exactly what he was doing. I could've saved us some trouble here a couple posts back for digging just SLIGHTLY deeper earlier on, but here's the full text: http://mlk-kpp01.stanford.edu/index.php/encyclopedia/documentsentr y/advice_for_living4/

Hooker - 2013-08-07

This stuff doesn't even make me angry any more. They've long lost this battle and are busy still taking casualties when the other side has gone home. I just feel sad for them.

Cena_mark - 2013-08-08

Its so desperate, but living on the crazy fringes makes them feel like extra special Christians. They lost the hearts and minds of the youth and can really only save their own red states from gay marriage for now.
They'll have to work on some explanations for the tornado and hurricanes they'll continue to receive. I guess it'll be a case of God punishing Alabama for California's crimes.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-08-07

FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU

yogarfield - 2013-08-07

"Dr. Chaps" is a very gay porn moniker.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-08-07

Evil, evil indeed. If this video irritated you, whatever you do, don't look up other videos by this guy. This is no where near the worst one he's made about gay people.

He's absolutely obsessed with gay people though. Combine that fact with the delightful "Dr. Chaps" handle, and you really can't help but wonder.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-08-08

He looks too nervous and fidgety to actually feel threatened by. He just comes across as an insecure, small little man whose opinion is valued by few.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2013-08-08

Thinking happy thoughts about zombie MLK rising from the grave to bite this guy's empty little head off.

baleen - 2013-08-08

God, what a fucking idiot.

Kabbage - 2013-08-08

holy fuck youuuuuuuuuuuuuu

ashtar. - 2013-08-08

Uh, thanks for making the case that people should be judged on their immoral actions and views. We'll be sure to bring that up the next time "Christians" complain that they are being discriminated against for their immoral actions and views.

Xenocide - 2013-08-08

Your name is Klingenschmitt? Are you sure you weren't a commandant on Hogan's Heroes?

ashtar. - 2013-08-08

His name is my name too.

bac - 2013-08-08

And whenever he goes out the people always shout: "HOLY SHIT THERE GOES THAT FUCKING MORON!"

Xenocide - 2013-08-08

bac, take my invisible stars.

Bort - 2013-08-08

five stars for bac

memedumpster - 2013-08-08

So what he's saying is : gay people will only survive by wiping out all Christians.

Any Christians deny this message?

Welp, time to build the camps.

jangbones - 2013-08-08

great idea, discriminate against homosexuals while embracing adulterers, divorcees, and bigots

Jane Error - 2013-08-08

His nickname is "Dr. Chaps," apparently. Nicely done, rightwingwatch.org

mon666ster - 2013-08-08

If I met this man on the street, my first thought would be "This man obviously molests children".

Binro the Heretic - 2013-08-08

Turd.

DriverStabby - 2013-08-09

Can we please stop all this petty, nitpicky hate mongering, and focus on Jews?
