Shut up. Shut up. Shut up, you ambulatory sack of shit. I am so fucking tired of you. Just shut up.

I am tired of your voice. It's like a fucking cheese grater across my eardrums. I am even more tired of your schtick. You contribute nothing to the world. You're not even a devil's advocate. You just spout off bullshit that you know will appeal to the hateful paranoid assholes who make up your fanbase. You don't even believe it yourself. You just know they do so you keep saying it.

Just shut the fuck up, you turd.

A concerted effort of propaganda by the corporations trying to steer the world into a race war OR an allegory about South Africa, by a South African, using the history and classism of South Africa as a metaphor for how the third world EXISTS to support the first world globally today, and will even moreso as the century wears on?

I'd just like to say I love comment Elysium's world makes on what the high standard of living the 1st world enjoys costs the rest of humanity. The future isn't 2001 A Space Odyssey. It isn't Mad Max. It's both at the same time for different people, and neither of these groups of people earned their very different fates. In fact, that is the way it already is right now. Cybernetic eyes and cheap smartphones for some, dystentary and sweatshops for everyone else. As social and economic commentary the premise is powerful and true --- and never been phrased like this in a big film. It's so amazing Alex jones thinks the economy of the world just appeared out of nowhere and every country exists in this vacuum that lets it be totally responsible for the economic and social pressures that shape the lives of their people. Again. This is how children think. Schematic.

The movie is bad. And yes, actually, annoyingly racist-- sort of. I'm really tired that it always takes a white guy to save hordes of brown people. This is a truly ancient and juvenile meme going back to the era british colonialism and the pulp fiction that followed---intended for children. Yes, I understand the subtext for the casting choice: the first world created these problems so it's a karmic thing Damon's character is acting out by solving them. But that doesn't change the banality of another white messiah for brown people. Fuck, Jesus wasn't even white and we turned him into a white dude.

Yes I understand Damon's interest in the film and the financial value his name added to the production, but I really wish execs and people like Damon could take a step back and say: dude, its another white guy saving brown people. Can't we tell another story?

Also the dialogue is campy, cartoony, qualities not out of character for scifi stuff, but it doesn't work at all with the 21st century war-documentary style of realism Blomkampf does.

Also? Dubstep is the music of the future? A true dystopia.

Did he just show concern for the French being portrayed in a negative light?

I don't even understand this guy anymore....

freedoom - 2013-08-15

Now, when he said Matt Damon was Mexican was he talking about the character in Elysium or was he talking about Matt Damon? Also was it a metaphor or was he being literal? i stopped watching after that because i was so confused.

I'll bet he'd get along fine with the aliens from Oblivion. THEY'RE JUST TRYING TO RUN A BUSINESS!

Good god, why hasn't someone institutionalized this man yet? Were he right in the head he'd probably be a great sci-fi writer, but as is, his delusion resembles some partially aborted chimera of Atlas Shrugged, Red Dawn, and Revealing Eden.

We don't need another L. Ron Hubbard, thanks.

Pillager - 2013-08-15

He's a fraud who doesn't believe a word of this. I see him as the L Ron Hubbard of the conspiracy set.

all my stars to the recommended by Youtube video that was right to the side "Calm Down Gurrrl" from Kathy Griffin.

i can imagine his loud gravely bloviating and lip smacking as he inhaled nachos and layered butter popcorn got a little tedious for the rest of the theater

"The only good white person in this film is Matt Damon."
Jesus, what a racist acting critic.

I honestly wish there was a science fiction movie where rich white people were the enemy of the planet, but there's no way you'd get away with calling it fiction and it would be hard to argue why science was necessary to the plot.
