Surprisingly enough, they're white.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-08-23

Pfff, like that matters. You know the Jews were behind it, regardless.

OxygenThief - 2013-08-23

This does not jive with my worldview. DISREGARDED

dairyqueenlatifah - 2013-08-23

It's always fun to watch news reports on insane subcultures being both reported and watched by people who don't quite know what it is.

Cena_mark - 2013-08-23

You can see their confusion once the strange words hit the teleprompter. You'd think they'd at least read a little about them up front. The worst was the initial reports about Anonymous.

Callamon - 2013-08-24

Yeah but those gave us the exploding van.

spikestoyiu - 2013-08-23

This crime is so white.

Are conspiratards calling this one a FALSE FLAG yet? I don't want to check.

Also, how can you ignore the Scientology connection here?

I was checking her facebook page this afternoon and most on her friends list are fellow Scientologists. Looking at their likes it seems there is a whole subset of Scilons that are also Ron Paul 'libertarian" and far right sovereign citizen anti-government types . Of course Hubbard was pretty much in the paranoid right wing camp himself but I wasn't aware that the modern cult members kept that tradition alive. With their recent connections to the Nation of Islam and now this you have to wonder just where the ideology of the "most ethical people on the planet" is on the political scale. It's also interesting that the mainstream press seems to be ignoring the Scientology connection.

Holy shit! This is why if I ever move into a luxurious studio rabbit hole, I'm inviting you guys over. You always find the secret corridors and rooms!

Let me get this out of the way for GOOGLE real quick: Scientology terrorist cop killers!

What gets me is they have no respect for laws and law enforcement, but they were going to set up their own laws and law enforcement against these kidnapped cops. A typical hallmark of what I lovingly call "animal revolution" or violent overthrow of power without thought or plan for improvement. Ushering in a new child-ape-kingdom of their very own based on their sovereign stupidity.

Gmork - 2013-08-24

Sometimes the revolution is worse than the reason for revolting. Most countries that have a power shift suffer from weakened infrastructure for a long time after.

Cena_mark - 2013-08-23

Sovereign Citizens are typically so involved in playing lawyer and Constitutional scholar that we forget that there is a more violent side to them.
This was a very sick plot. One must be extremely callous to put people through a kangaroo court and execution.

Bort - 2013-08-24

I interpret the legalese and the violence as different expressions of a big clot of "my individual rights are absolute and no force on earth may limit them".

Individual rights are garbage. Civil rights are a much better thing, because instead of forming around what I want, they form around what is fair for me AND the other guy. Almost all the time, it's possible to find some sort of limit to my rights that allows the other guy to do his thing, without really keeping me from getting my work done too.

Earlier in this thread I feigned surprise over how they're white, because it takes a crazy level of entitlement to feel that traffic laws are a violation of your God-given rights. Few minorities are so well off in this society that their biggest gripe is traffic laws.

Kieran27 - 2013-08-24

I'm stunned by this. I knew that Sovereign Citizens could be violent, at least with shoot outs with cops in parking lots and such. But I didn't think they could be twisted vigilantes. Most of their mindset seemed to boil down to 'Your laws do not apply to me' and some legal tomfoolery that was supposed to prove that. This... This is just beyond belief.

I can see Sovereign Citizens wanting to attack police (being symbols of the government) but rather than just grab a rifle and start shooting, they wanted to go to the trouble of kidnapping them, putting them on trial, and then executing them. I guess I was wrong about them. They don't think 'Your laws do not apply to me' it is more 'I have my own laws, and they trump yours'

Given they don't tell you what they expect of you, and are willing to hold rigged trials and executions for breaking their laws, I really hope authorities start looking into this movement a lot closer.

Gmork - 2013-08-24

What the fuck is a sovereign citizen? I thought we were all living in a sovereign nation?

Bort - 2013-08-24

People who think that, because they never actually agreed to abide by this country's laws, they aren't subject to them.

Not trying to start a row with you Gmork, but when people speak of gun rights in absolute or near-absolute terms, I get the same sense from them as I do these people: their individual rights are so inviolable that their impact on others doesn't even factor into their thinking. I'm not saying that every such gun owner is a Sovereign Citizen or comparably violent, but I see them as candidates to go that direction. But show me a gun owner who agrees that there should be some limits on gun ownership because the other guy deserves his safety too, and we're at least able to speak the same language. I'm not demanding that you defend your position on guns by the way, just telling you where I'm coming from.

Kieran27 - 2013-08-24

There does seem to be a massive sense of entitlement to the Sovereign Citizen movement. I first learned about them when they were moving into foreclosed or abandoned houses and setting up permanent living arrangements. And when told they had to leave, they'd produce tons of papers, demanding payment in gold or silver (cause that's the only 'real' money) and generally bogging down the process with their mystical law skills.

I do find it telling the houses they moved into weren't in quiet, modest neighborhoods. They were almost always huge million dollar homes in prime areas. Not a humble group.
