Ask most professional comedians and they'll look at you as if you'd just asked a stupid question.

That would involve actually talking to a comedian, and I can't imagine myself in a situation that would justify such an act.

I'm not terribly familiar with Hicks... but the performance seemed okay to me. I'm guessing he had to censor some of it due to CBS (or whatever channel Letterman comes on), but honestly, I've seen much, much worse... even after 1993.

i actually talk to comics all the time and hicks is not like a universally loved figure. Pretty divided opinions, a lot of people see his material as dated and kinda homophobic. I personally think he is ok at best, but a lot better than a lot of the comedy popular at that time
