Well, I blame Hip-hop. While Hip-hop gave voice to a number of generations of black men and women by showing them how to aspire to their own cultural values instead of white culture's values, Hip-hop also managed to convince white trash to aspire to its own sense of value and not the traditional white cultural values. I thought hip-hop was a cynical ploy by white businessmen to inculcate shallow materialistic values into the minds of the urban African community, depriving them of the will to strive for anything more than owning the latest basketball shoes and CIA-backed drug paraphernalia?
