You guys can go ahead and watch it.

I don't know why I voted it up.

Sudan no1 - 2013-09-10

Shouldn't they be called Jabronies?

ps. Madagascar should close their borders NOW.

cognitivedissonance - 2013-09-10

DAMN YOU I CAME IN HERE TO TYPE THAT

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2013-09-10

Don't they have samurai to take care of the brony problem over there?

Gmork - 2013-09-10

Tom Cruise was our last and best hope. It's over now.

Xenocide - 2013-09-10

What do samurai ride into battle?

That's right. HORSES.

IT'S AN INSIDE JOB!

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-09-10

That's a really bigoted thing to say, Scrotum.

badideasinaction - 2013-09-10

No Gmork, Keanu Reeves is coming to save them all next. With more dragons.

baleen - 2013-09-11

I can't believe I watched so much of this. I guess I'm amazed at the amount of time people have.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the psychology of these guys... Men with abusive or oppressive male figures in their past exploring gentleness as therapy? I don't detect any kind of sub-sub-subgenre of gayness. I have no idea. It's bizarre.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-09-11

So what is it like being you Baleen?

BiggerJ - 2013-09-10

Is it true that they cut three minutes of the first episode (and therefore possibly every single one) to make room for the pop-songs in the opening and closing sequences?

Crunchy Frog - 2013-09-10

I don't know if it's three full minutes, but yes, they did. The TV networks also have music distribution companies, and it's not unusual for them to:
a) have whichever pop star they want to promote provide the theme song, or
b) support voice actresses who have ambitions to become pop stars.

In this case, they did both, with the Japanese opening theme provided by Pinkie Pie's voice actress, and the closing theme by girl group AKB48.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-09-10

This show isn't terrible, but it isn't good either. It is a flat, uninteresting show for little girls. If any of you say otherwise, you can go fuck yourself. I'm sick of seeing clips of it. I mean, what happened to you guys? Even if you LOVE this show, you can't possibly enjoy watching these douchebags watch your little girl show.

Hugo Gorilla - 2013-09-10

32 seconds.

EvilHomer - 2013-09-10

Uki uki ponii-chan! This is great! Much more interesting than I thought it would be. A few quick thoughts:

o Oh wow, that really IS the theme song! I thought that was a joke!

o Pinkie Pie nails the voice, but I don't like Rainbow's actress very much. In the original version, she sounds tough but cute, like a Ninja Turtle crossed with a Rollerderby chick. Here, though, she just sounds like a lesbian tsundere. I don't think Rainbow works as Sailor Uranus...

o it's really heartwarming to see how into the show the Japony community is! Even though they've had to make do with imports up until now! It's sort of like watching one of us with an anime show we like. It really makes you think about our common humanity, and how, no matter how different our lives and cultures may be, in our hearts we are all brothers and friends.

o How have the Japonies been watching MLP? I know many of them have already seen every episode, but did they watch the show in English? Are there Japanes fansubs, or better still, fandubs?

o It's nice to see that even in Japan, the American guy is fat.

o What's the story with Sakura Cheetah? His English is perfect, and he sounds like a native speaker. Was he raised or at least educated overseas?

o Osaka Jack, you silly bitch! You've ALREADY bought the toys! They're all over your apartment!

o I need a cool Japanese pony name, too.

o KAWAII! ^__^

o DERPY!!! 6__9 #

o I need to buy one of those creepy horsie masks.

o LOL at Twilight's horrible mouth animation during that ad segment. I can understand why my Japanese friends were so pissed off about it, but I want to see more of that segment! It's like a Pinkie/Dash prank that Hasbro Japan has played on everypony!

I only got halfway through before my boss yelled at me, but this was a great find, thanks!

BHWW - 2013-09-10

I wish there was a way I could send an e-mail to any brony so that when they opened it a spring loaded boxing glove straight out of a Warner Bros. cartoon would come shooting out of the screen to biff them in the face.

EvilHomer - 2013-09-10

That would also be a funny Pinkie prank! I bet they'd seriously consider doing something like that, if the technology existed (which, unfortunately, it doesn't).

You'd have to be careful, though, because that prank might be considered a bit mean by some bronies, especially bronies with social anxiety or delicate faces. Make sure you know your friend can take a joke before you prank them, otherwise you might come off as a jerk, or even a bully!

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-09-10

Oh, sure. Liking MLP is off-limits, but liking racist, shitty old WB cartoons is okay.

Figures.

Crunchy Frog - 2013-09-10

There are indeed Japanese fansubs, posted on nicovideo. This guy has painstakingly translated the user comments from most of the episodes of season 1:

(Click "With Timestamps" or "Without Timestamps" to read the comments.)

Quick summary: Big McIntosh is cool, and everyone wants Fluttershy as a waifu.

EvilHomer - 2013-09-10

Oh my god that link is amazing. Thanks, Crunchy Frog!

BHWW - 2013-09-10

One starring this in honor of PoE-TV's bronies

EvilHomer - 2013-09-10

Oops, I mean, どうも!

cognitivedissonance - 2013-09-11

It's ok to like any cartoons you like.

Much like Dungeons and Dragons, C.S. Lewis and Ayn Rand, it is best to use discretion when announcing your admiration.

chumbucket - 2013-09-10

I don't care what the Japanese think about a show I don't care about.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-09-10

Racist.

Spaceman Africa - 2013-09-11

An object lesson

Old_Zircon - 2013-09-11

Stopped after 44 seconds, not out of disgust just out of boredom.
