Everyone I know who read the book first hated the movie. I saw the movie first so I love both.

fedex - 2013-09-20 I always liked that because it SO doesn't work, it is in fact SO painfully awkward that it is, in fact, brilliant.

Cinema is so much better now that it is aimed at 14 year old aspie boys. All those words and characters and mysterious scenes, so confusing! NEEDS MOAR EXPLOSIONS, GIANT ROBOTS! WHY ISN"T CHAUNCY IN METALLIC TIGHTS!

Oscar Wildcat - 2013-09-19 But to be fair there, he had some superpowers at the end, so that was cool. But lightning fists would have been better.

..and then Hal Ashby had to ruin the entire mood and message of the movie by then including 5 minutes of outtakes because IT'S A PETER SELLERS MOVIE LOL THERE MUST BE JOKES AND PEOPLE FALLING DOWN AND STUFF. God forbid this actor be able to do a single, semi-serious movie with some dignity.

StanleyPain - 2013-09-19 Although, to be fair, I believe the outtakes have been removed in more recent versions of the film.

I always loved the over-the-top Illuminati reference with the mausoleum

This movie is pretty good, but it could've been so much better. As said above, the source material was really great. I'm not saying it's a bad film, because it isn't, but it could've been one of the best movies of all time had it been better executed.
