Republicans used to the party that wanted to run the country like a business. Not my preferred method, but, within reason, perfectly acceptable and vive le difference.
Republicans are now the party that wants to run the empire like a cult, all the while denying it is an empire. I am unlikely to know for a few decades just what, exactly, the very real cults are contributing to the effort, but I suspect (and, again, no facts) that the unholy combination of Scientology's war on psychiatry, Christian Science's monomania against physicians just generally, Mormon prosperity theology, Moonie media influence, and Xenu knows how many other smaller cults, are now the inner circle. Nevermind the Liberty University crew, they're just the foot soldiers.

The Mormons are required to donate 10% of their income to the Church. LDS donates heavily to conservative causes.
If only such tithes could be expanded to ALL conservative Christians... But how could they do this?

memedumpster - 2013-10-02 You really don't know any of the 800,000 people who work for the Fed who now do not, or anyone who has small children? I must be totally failing as a shut-in. Seriously, you never go camping, or know anyone else who does? You know that thing called NASA, it's quadruple fucked now, and I hope to hell you're not a battered woman looking for a shelter. Good news for scientists who don't want to work for a soulless corporation to find new cures and ways of using technology : now they have no choice! Go sign up for big pharma, scientists, the government can't afford knowledge.
But, you know, fuck welfare recipients, all of the above is totally worth it to fuck over one or two you don't like online. If you're not rich as fuck, you're a petty kind of traitor.
End of Line.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-10-02
I just dared myself to look at the tea party website. Not on the fact that I trust this set of webdenizens, but that I feel confident to engage and understand philosophy with out getting sucked into it.
All I got was the equivalent of a pet owner dressing up their cat in a frog hat with the caption "CAN I HAZ FLYZ?"
Only good thing about this shut down is that it proves how much of a cancer the Tea Party is. The only merit that would come from this is if Ted Cruz looked at the camera, called his supporters a bunch of sycophantic, clueless sheep in true Ayn Randian grit, and proceeded to commit suicide via Budd Dwyer.

Shoebox Joe - 2013-10-02 I should also mention said cat is sleeping. No action, no pose, not even a fake fly in front of it.
Just a cat sleeping.

betabox - 2013-10-03 I've always kind of heard that she's one of The Good Ones, but never really knew much about her.
This video offers some small amount of hope in a weary world.

Republicans make it so easy for me to vote. They also give me a hero complex, because I feel like I'm fighting the evildoers when i vote Democrat down the line.
