14:52. Just as the professor is suggesting that all medical treatment other than radical bionic implantation should be ignored, we see Bionic-1's family on beds lying atop a giant Umbrella Corporation logo.

Xenocide - 2013-10-03

The Asian kid's code name is Karate-One.

misterbuns - 2013-10-03

Does the black guy have a robot monkey?

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-10-03

This was really progressive for the 80's.

DriverStabby - 2013-10-03

The black adopted kid's code name is Steal TVs-One.

DriverStabby - 2013-10-03

The white kid's name is Baseball-One. I am not joking.

takewithfood - 2013-10-03

The mother's name is "Mother-1".

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-10-03

The black adopted kid's name was I.Q. He was the smart one!

Also, I love the voices. Karate One was played by the Asian nerd from Revenge of the Nerds. Alan Oppenheimer, who played Professor Sharp, was in about every show ever at some point in the 70s and 80s, and was also Cringer and Man-at-Arms on He-man, as well as the doctor in Six Million Dollar Man, so this was his second "inventor of a bionic dude" series.

After Affirmative Action was passed, the Fantastic Four were forced to make some staff additions.

duck&cover - 2013-10-03

Why did the openings of most of these cartoons have the characters falling through the air, then joining hands?

misterbuns - 2013-10-03

I am five staring this because THIS THEME SONG has literally been stuck in my head, like way way deep in my head for decades, but i have NO MEMORY of this show.

Every once in a while, usually while drunk, i'll hear the hook, and i've just accepted that its something from my past.

jesus christ.

what have you done??

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-10-03

Show yourself, you bionic boob!

Snakeweapon - 2013-10-03

One of my favourite toys of my childhood was a Bionic Six action figure. It was die-cast metal!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-03

I so miss die-cast metal.

Fucking transformers toys these days: All plastic, and made to match Michael Bay's idiotic movie instead of being fun to play with.

Kid Fenris - 2013-10-03

Shows like this, Galaxy Rangers, and Mighty Orbots are disappointing in a way. You had American studios giving Japanese animators budgets they'd rarely get to play with otherwise, and the results always look pretty good for an animated TV series.

Yet all of that was wasted on generic stories and corny, kid-safe scripting. What do we get from hiring the guy who directed Rose of Versailles? Cyborg Brady Bunch and a robot gorilla named F.L.U.F.F.I.

That said, the last episode of Bionic Six, "That's All, Folks," is worth a look. It's set partly inside a virtual reality, so the show gets to break the fourth wall, satirize the decline of old-fashioned cartoons, and play with the animation style. That's better than anything Alf Tales ever did.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-03

I'd have to disagree a bit on the Galaxy Rangers. Apart from giving us a sci-fi version of Wolverine, there were some nightmare fuel concepts at play, like the villain putting people into comas so she could use their souls/life force/whatever to run her cyber-sorceress army and stuff.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-10-03

The art is strangely reminiscent of comic book art from the time. Kind of neat.

BlisteredButtress - 2013-10-04

Better intro animation to actual animation ratio than I would have guessed.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-10-04

This was the pilot, so maybe it was better? I don't think I could watch it at my age and still enjoy it.

I do remember a rather smart joke for the target audience. The blonde daughter had to take some test for school and she cheated by taking some kind of brain enhancer. She picked up the test and read, "Question one. Explain the universe and give two examples. Easy!"

Yeah, it's a cliche now, but at the time, I thought that was funnier than this show deserved.

Delightful.
