The comments are a sign that certain pockets of our "society" are in dire need of having their bubble popped to let lots of reality in. It's a symphony of "I got mine," "the poors are lazy," and "everyone agrees with my Randian fever-dream view despite all evidence to the contrary which must be made up because everyone agrees with me."

It must be like trying to reason with Iranian clerics about letting women show a little ankle.

The more I see and hear of these guys, the more it seems plausible to me that they have actually made a decision to eliminate unpleasant poor people by overtaxing and denying them (us) health care and vital services. "Let the poor eat themselves" could really be a motto for the tea party.

I would just like to point out these are the same exact people who think people who unionize, walk out on their jobs, and go on strike should be fired.

We had a pretty good run as a country, you know. I don't want to sound apocalyptic, but our system has failed us. And, I don't know how many more times it can happen. At least we know who to blame.
