These actually make anime watchable.

From the comments, apart from the massive butthurt over poking fun at such a serious work of art:

"They use swords and stuff because it is in the year 850 (A.D), they do have guns, but this is obviously in an alternate universe. Also titans can only be killed if you lice the nape of their neck, guns can't slice, unless they have a bayonette. And also titans grow back their limbs if blown off, thats why they need to slice the nape of the neck"

So if I understand this, the scabbards work both as Batman grapplers and as some kind of jet propulsion system? How do those work without tipping the user on their head or "jetting" the fronts of the scabbards into each other as they try to orbit the wearer's waist? And they can invent those gizmos but not huge ballistae with wide, razor-sharp heads to slice off titan noggins?

Anime "science" has produced any number of huge, thrown blades. Hell, if you can have eight-foot-long swords, why not eight-foot-wide shiruken?

This deserves to be abridged in the hardest way.

from what I understand they are just high speed pneumatic winches/grapples. they cant do anything on flat open ground. (luckily there is always a town, towers, giant trees, a canal, an inlet, or a fjord nearby.)

the big guns thing is limited by the numbers of, varying size and/or speed of the giant streakers. (and cannons having terrible aim)

And a reminder; You're trying to find logic in fantasy anime...

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-11-18

Nah, I'm looking for even the least amount of suspension of disbelief that even Farscape managed to achieve now and then.

It's like having a Sherlock Holmes cartoon set in the Victorian era where fantastic technologies are possible (like, say, the Robert Downey Jr. movies) and instead of steampunk-looking stuff that's pretty limited in ability, Holmes whips out a brass-and-gear covered iPhone... which at this point I wouldn't put past the producers.

Also, this is some people screwing around with anime footage for fun, yet note how they can loop the mouth animation to make it fit what they WANT to say rather than the word salad the dubs AND subs come up with.

Maybe it's impossible to translate the deep introspection about panties most anime involves, but you could at least produce sentence structure that wasn't subjected to some kind of grammar version of The Human Centipede.

I bet you're fun at parties.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-11-17

The man does have a point, though.

Very hard to find an anime that's watchable the entire way through. Most have salient moments, and lots of filler.

This seems like lots of filler. Neat idea though.

Nominal - 2013-11-17

That's what struck me about these (besides being hilarious). They're one-third or less the run time of the actual show yet manage to convey the whole plot at a pace that doesn't put you to sleep.

Anime wouldn't suck so hard if they just removed all the filler and pauses where they pan over the same damn still image for minutes at a time. Dear anime makers: I know it's "paying homage to manga" or whatever, but you need to cut that shit out.

Oh yeah, and the dialog. Has there ever been a subtitle job that isn't stiff and literal?

Hit the nail on the head.

Xenagama Warrior Princess - 2013-11-17

Loads of fun, creative swearing that I wish I could think up.

Also, I knew that had to be Doug Walker doing the narrator.

Oops. Turns out that's probably not Patrick Warburton.

But it is a DAMN good impression!

infinite zest - 2013-11-17

How come this has better voice acting than any actual anime I've ever seen? This anime seems kind of cool though.

Nominal - 2013-11-17

Because they tune the mouth animation around the actor's natural delivery instead of a delivery forced to match the original set in stone animation designed for a different language.

Kid Fenris - 2013-11-17

Eh, these are pretty lame. The problem might be that they follow some semblance of the original storylines. Maybe it'd be better if they just made up a completely different plot based on the visuals, like the old Ultracity 6060 shorts.

But perhaps the real issue is deeper, since most of the jokes are what you'd hear in a middling episode of Family Guy.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-11-17

The writing and comic timing are surprisingly sharp. The biggest flaw is that, after a while, these "parodies" start taking the source material too seriously and become legitimate abridged versions. Like that Hellsing adaptation started off hilarious, but eventually read like actual dialogue from the cartoon (which I have not seen because I was too busy blowin' cigarettes and smokin' babes).

Out of the hundreds of videos you've voted on, this one was the lowest rated? Really?

Duck Cop I have no clue what you're talking about. They're up to episode 4 and the jokes are flowing like never before, even moreso that the previous episodes. The main character botches his entrance music before taking on a literal feminazi obsessed with 5 year old internet memes as they continue with the running gag on how cliche anime Nazis are.

The difference between this and an episode of Family Guy is...jesus, everything. Have you even seen Family Guy?
