The joke is lame, so one star. But that's the point, I guess, so five stars. But it's sad to see Steve Martin sleepwalk through a joke, so one star. But Nominal's description is so fucking condescending, so one star again.

Oh poop, haters. I've noticed this shift in comedians-turned-serious-writers-slash-actors-trying-to-be-funny-a gain-as-they-get-older paradigm. "Excuuuuuuse me" used to be the height of wit in the 1970s but "Shopgirl" is still one of my favorite novellas (pretty good movie too). Steve Martin is a treasure. This is about as funny as the following joke:

A landlord goes to his therapist and says "doctor I have a big complex"

therapist says "is there a room for rent there for rent because I'm going through a divorce."

I just made that up and it sucks, and this does too, but Martin is still one of the masters of comedy, in my opinion surpassing Bill Murray. :)
