Thank GOD it wasn't a fell mood.

Only real Dwarf Fortress nerds (such as myself) have survived the horrors of a fell mood.*


*said dwarf must be depressed and deprived of alcohol. said dwarf grabs nearest dwarf, drags him/her to a butcher's shop, kills the victim, strips the meat from the bone and then two things happen:

a) some other dwarf turns the dead dwarf's skin into leather

b) the crazy dwarf carves something from the victim's bones, decorates it with the victim's skin leather, gems, precious metals and other things, frequently making wildly complicated historical visuals on the artifact.

Then the crazy dwarf leaves the butcher's shop, perfectly sane, and his relevant crafting skills are fully leveled.

This frequently happens during end-fortress terminal riot cycles, so the artifact is rarely enjoyed by the dwarves. The murderer dwarf is also immune from insanity and thus is usually murdered in the ensuing riots.
