Aren't video games & big TV's one of those things that people keep buying when they can no longer afford a car, a vacation or a larger house. You just hole yourself up and stay inside.

I know a guy who is barely clinging to a shitty sales job, married with a 2 year old kid. His jeep has been busted for about four months and they're barely covering his expenses and his rent, and about a week ago he decided to drop like 0-0 on the new XBox.

He is five years older than me.

I would really like a PS4, to be honest. Yeah, I know it's a mid-level PC, but it's more about the exclusive titles for me. Games like Uncharted, Infamous, and especially Ratchet and Clank.

That said, none of those are out yet. I skipped the big releases this year, because I have more important things, a kid, loans, etc. I don't understand the rush to get either of these things, there's nothing to play on either. By the time Infamous comes out, I have no doubt I'll be able to buy some kind of bundle with my rebate next year, or there will have been a price drop, etc.

The days when consoles launched with killer apps have long been over. Why anyone cares about "day one" is beyond my comprehension.

Also, I just went to look at gamestop to see whether the Xbone was 0 or 0 (it's 500), and the page for it is hilarious. They actually have large boxes advertising hilarious key features. "Play online or offline!" "You can still trade games in!" "You can turn kinect off if you want!"

I can't remember who told me this, but I guess there's a retinal scan that gagues how many eyes are watching a TV show or movie, and it charges you accordingly. That's fucked up.

I just spent 0 on a video card that will last me for another three years at absolute minimum. I think I have the xbox beat.

Its really baffling, both the PS4 and Xbone have sold like 2 million each. There are no games, and people can't buy them fast enough, at maximum price, with Rev A hardware.

I totally understand the cheap entertainment value of video games to people who can't afford much, but paying these kind of prices...for what? These things have no games and unlike the last two generations, no other new function (DVD player, online marketplace/media) to justify upgrading. What do these things do that the PS3 and 360 can't? Useful shit that people actually want.

Christ I can't even tell the difference between graphics is most of the screenshots.

I just want to put here, "Man, do not get me started on people dropping half a G on a fucking Xbox 3 or PS4" and let you guys fill in the rest.

I'd agree, but you can word a sentence or question in almost any vernacular to Siri and Siri gets the gist of what you're trying to ask/say. Siri's way older than this technology.

Or maybe it's become self-aware and really doesn't want to play Killer Instinct, because that game sucked!

Oh I will undoubtedly get a PS4 someday too, both once some interesting games come out, and when I make a dent in the pile of PS3 games I still haven't played yet. Interestingly if the PS4 had backwards compatibility it might move up on the list so I could have one system and still play the dozens of games I already have, but as long as I would buy the thing just to let it sit idle most of the time, its pretty easy to avoid the temptation.
