Then when they crossed the street to that Nolan kid's house he wouldn't shut the fuck up about how everyone's a terrible person and Batman ultimately fails to make a difference and he only throws in a token mention of Robin at the end like the biggest afterthought ever. Good job none of the kids were talking about Superman...

Nominal - 2013-12-21

How does that Nolan kid talk with so much 1% dick in his mouth?

Jim Quin - 2013-12-21

It's never satisfactorily explained in a consistent, logical and coherent fashion.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

Knock it off. This is video is for bashing Joel Schumacher the man who made the shittiest Batman films ever, not Christopher Nolan who made by far the greatest film in its genre.

memedumpster - 2013-12-21

I went to Nolan's IMBD to make a "You're right, ______ really was great, too bad he made Batman" but every single one of those movies listed sucked (though I did not see Doodlebug or Following, which may rock).

Wander - 2013-12-21

Sorry the best superhero film is avengers.

Sorry everyone.

Wander - 2013-12-21

NO WAIT it's the fantastic four the only made to keep the licence, that's the best one.

garcet71283 - 2013-12-21

Captain America starring Big McLargehuge

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

I know the others are jokes, but there are plenty of idiots who really do think The Avengers is a great film. Sorry, but that crap played out like a Saturday morning cartoon with a 200 million dollar budget. It was just a cheesy and insipid popcorn flick that I don't care to ever see again.
The Dark Knight Trilogy was more than just great superhero action. It had the depth to put it on par with the greatest films of all time.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

Oh I forgot... The Avengers is overrated because so many nerds have such a hard on for Joss Whedon.
And Firefly sucked too.

SolRo - 2013-12-21

you crossed the line at Firefly

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

If it was a good show it would have ran for more than 1 season.
Of course the fanboys just blame Fox.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-21

If Nolan was responsible for telling Bale that his "Bat-Voice" was what he should go with, then Nolan needs his head examined.

Nolan didn't deliver the definitive Bat-franchise (one that could be spun into a larger DCU series like the Justice League), he wasted Two-Face, screwed up Bane, and could've done a lot better with Ra's Al Ghul. He made an okay-to-meh action series with a comic book basis, but especially towards the third film, he was running out of steam. I heard a rumor that they were originally going to go with the Riddler in the third film, and I could believe it after seeing the football stadium scene. Having the QB running with the ball just ahead of a tidal wave of destruction was just so damn cartoony I could almost hear Yakkity Sax playing over it.

Of course, DC hasn't been able to produce a movie as good as the Dini/Timm animated movies and series. "Mask of the Phantasm" is still the best Batman movie they've done thus far, and don't even get me started on the Superman films.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

He didn't waste any of those villains. They had their places in the films they were in. What did you expect him to with Two Face, save him for more sequels?
I don't see a need for the Nolan Batman to tie in with the rest of the DC Universe. They can do that with a separate project. What I loved about the Nolanverse is that it didn't have people with super powers. Superman and Green Lantern would have been out of place there. Though still far fetched it seemed a ton more plausible than Superman. I think that's always been the appeal of Batman. On the other hand I found the super powerless Avengers to be horribly out place in their world. Like I'm supposed to believe Hawk Eye's arrows and Black Widow's pistol are effective against the alien swarm.
I'll admit the Bat Voice was a little annoying at times and the football player bit was a little silly, but otherwise the Dark Night Trilogy has two great films and one best ever in the genre.

Nominal - 2013-12-21

The greatest films of all time???!

Cena, that's only a slightly more grown up adult remark than the weeaboos saying Final Fantasy 7 was the greatest story of all time.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-21

They're all in the IMDB TOP 250 and the Dark Knight is #6. Now I know the IMDB isn't the end all be all, but it still means something. All those films are so highly praised. They have a hard to beat mix of love from critics and audiences alike along with box office success.
Sure you can get on you film snob high horse and ramble on about Kurasawa and Spike Lee.... but still if you can't see the greatness in the Nolan films then the failure is on you.

Caminante Nocturno - 2013-12-22

The Sailor Moon movies are the best superhero movies ever made.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-12-22

Let's put it this way: Bat-Nolan were decent action films with a silly voice that were more about him finishing a trilogy than building a larger franchise. Love it or hate it, Marvel has created a next step for films based on comics (and novels, if they work at it) where actors and storylines are reprised over several movies.

And I bring up the whole larger franchise thing because that's what DC obviously wants to do. They want their own Avengers, but their movies have yet to have to coherence and breadth of their animated work. Part of it also has to do with the fact that every director has to fucking re-tell the same fucking origin stories (with various stupid add-ons) that the audience knows by heart, even if they've never read a single comic book.

As for killing villains, it's stupid, lazy, and a reflection that the studio has no plans beyond the current film they're making. You may not like the Marvel films, but having Loki return over several films has made for one of the better bad guys I've seen, as he's given time to develop the same way the heroes are. For Batman, this is especially needed, since if he murders all of them, (1) he's going to run out of villains we'd want to see him go up against, and (2) it kind of eliminates the need for Arkham Asylum. I would love to see a trio of Batman films where the Joker is at least in the first and third. Villains with history are far more interesting than ones that suddenly appear and then get offed.

asian hick - 2013-12-22

What "depth to put it on par with the greatest films of all time" did the Nolan trilogy have exactly? It was fucking movie series about a man that dresses up as a bat. What themes did it explore that made it great?

Cena_mark - 2013-12-22

Looks like some Asiandick slept through the Dark Knight. It was all about balance between law and order and fascism.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-12-22

How fucking spoiled are you people to indulge in this trendy "Christopher Nolan is a hack" backlash? For fifty years, Adam West was the definitive Batman. Fucking Adam West. People lived and died with him as their sole Batman. Then Burton's '89 version came out, which the Internet is now obliged to pretend to love more than the Dark Knight despite being even darker, grittier, and less imaginative. This is because the third movie in the trilogy is out, and the Internet is obliged to pretend to hate the things it once loved the instant the trilogy concludes (see: Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Spider-Man).

Nolan's films are big, beautiful, smart, sharply written, brilliantly acted, and packed with some of the best action sequences since Heat. Hans Zimmer's score alone merits a "shut the fuck up and listen to Molossus." I can't fathom how Bob Kane or even a kid reading Batman comics in the 40's would respond to the thrilling mid-air heist at the start of The Dark Knight Rises, but I'll bet it wouldn't be with a third of the tedious, smarmy cynicism of the Internet.

asian hick - 2013-12-22

Yes, truly The Dark Knight's heavy handed themes are on par with Apocalypse Now In its discussion of law and order. The Joker's lazy exposition of nihilism puts Ran to shame.

You'rE embarrassing yourself again. It was a decent popcorn flick but to use superlatives like "greatest films" of all time tells me you haven't seen very many of these great films.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-22

Thankyou Sexy Duck Cop! These guys just put it down to sound cool and artsy. The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the finest examples of film this generation.
There you go Asian Dick listing off Kurasawa and Apocalypse Now. That is by far the most predictable film snob play of them all.
I've seen Yojimbo, Ran, Seven Samurai, Roshomon, and Throne of Blood. And yes I'll say the Dark Knight is better than some of these films. Get off your high pony.

Cena_mark - 2013-12-22

Shouldn't the greatest action films be as respected as the greatest dramatic films? Shouldn't the greatest comedies share that respect too? You're a film and genre snob. Recognize!

asian hick - 2013-12-22

What planet do you live on that you think liking Kurosawa makes you a film snob? What are you even defining as a film snob here beyond some vague half-assed insult? Kurosawa made plenty of fun popcorn films. I think the Hidden Fortress is a great action flick although it's not a terribly deep movie.

I just told you I thought the Dark Knight was a pretty good action movie. It is. What made me respond to you had more to do with your claim it had depth on par with the "greatest films of all time". You apparently are taking that personally and think that means I don't respect the film. For what it is, it is a very good movie.

memedumpster - 2013-12-22

Wow, you thought the Prestige was anything but hack schlock? At least Batman made sense. Inception was completely retarded.

SolRo - 2013-12-21

Not homophobic imho, that kid is just fabulous. He's getting shit for liking shumacher batman.

Nominal - 2013-12-21

Yeah, homophobia is making negative presumptions out of nowhere.

There was absolutely nothing to presume with bat nipples and fifty lingering Batman & Robin ass shots (Alicia's ass was quickly glossed over + no nipples on her).

SolRo - 2013-12-22

male nipples = fine, female nipples = porn

have you learned NOTHING?

Prickly Pete - 2013-12-22

Yes, gay men are constantly caressing boas and gushing over tight leather suits and flashy cars. It's not a stereotype if it's true!

Nominal - 2013-12-22

Is it really that presumptuous for someone who insisted on cramming a movie with tight leather nipple suited asses and fabulous flashy cars?

eatenmyeyes - 2013-12-22

This is nowhere close to homophobic. Have you ever heard Shumacher talk? Listen to his commentary track for Batman and Robin. There is a lot of apologizing.
