Been meaning to try it for a while.

infinite zest - 2013-12-23 This looks so cool. I wish I could use it in-browser though; it seems like the perfect game to play at work.
|
chairsforcheap - 2013-12-23 it is work. And it's more tedious than your work. And that makes it exquisitely enjoyable. It's sort of like that feeling then you floss too hard.
|
Jet Bin Fever - 2013-12-23 Yeah, I like this game. It presents a lot of fun hazy moral choices, that most games dilute to boring black and white "kill this guy or let him live" sort of choices.

Of course there's a mlp version–"Ponies, please"–in the related videos.

on steam right now. You could spend the money in worse ways.

What broke the game for me was its assumption that I gave a shit about my nagging wife and bratty kids.
|
|
The God of Biscuits - 2013-12-23 The game ends if everyone in your family dies.
Also, you can let them be cold one night, then go hungry the next, then repeat, to save money. Stupid kid always gets sick though.

sosage - 2013-12-23 I tried desperately to keep all of my family members alive during my first attempt, but I eventually had to start prioritizing who should get food and/or medicine (mostly "or", not so much "and"). If you give in a little bit to the game and try to play it from the perspective of what you think you would really do in that situation, the weight of the system and your place as a cog in it is crushing. In order to save my family I began doing morally questionable shit and began degrading these people, just so I could get enough kick backs to choose between food or medicine.
Eventually, the game won't let you just kick people out. You start getting docked pay for denying people who were cleared to come through, making the job much more stressful. You also have to start giving them reasons for being denied via a second stamp. You begin loathing people showing up for work reasons, because that's a potential fucking mess of documents you are scrutinizing between (Passport, Height/Weight card, Permission Slip, Workers Visa, Their Fingerprints, Fingerprints on file, Date on your daily paper, mugshots, etc.), when wasted time means less cash to feed/medicate your household.
When I pulled myself out of the experience and just tried gaming the thing, I started doing much better when I let everyone but my wife die. I also had to deny a niece from staying in my apartment, who winds up missing and presumed dead. I'm not sure if the game ends if your wife dies, but it sure as hell ends when you're negative funds.
Someone's gonna shit on it, but this game is (obviously) very different compared to the usual stuff.

StanleyPain - 2013-12-24 Basically the best way to describe the game is that it's one of those very rare few-games-a-year indie titles that has some weird, experimental mindset and actually works instead of being some hipster-y meltdown of pretentiousness and boredom.

This is the first game I've seen a trailer for that looked compelling in ten years.

This game is great and awesome and you should all play it here's some stars.
While we're here on the topic of games, and I'm pretty sure it never made it out of the hopper(not sure who submitted it), you guys should really check out "Device 6" for iOS. I know, I know, iPhone game, but it is an amazing text adventure game with brilliant typography that has the text serving as the world map. You'll be rotating and sliding your device to make your way around corners, down stairs, etc, scrolling your way back to previous rooms and hallways to reread details you think might be important, and scratching your head over some of the chapters.
Seriously, it's the best possibly thing you can do with , go play it. Especially you, sosage, if games like Papers Please are your thing, I guarantee this is worth a shot if you have an apple device.
|
sosage - 2013-12-24 ***** for you (I try not to star my own submissions)
I don't have an IOS device, but I'll definitely check it out if I get my hands on one. Sounds cool.

Just throwing in another vote for this game. Maybe we're overselling it, but I really did love it. Just unlocked Endless mode, too.
