It's a very pretty game.

It lacked, however, a lot of the complexity and variation of the Bioshock game, which is saying something, since Bioshock stripped out almost all of the complexity of System Shock.

Still, it's quite pretty. "Gay," if you will.

Counterpoint: bioshock one was ultimately boring to play and the complexity added little outside of being able to cheeze your way through fights with a small handful of overpowered weaponry/ammo.

Infinite was fun classic arena-style shooting and also had a better plot.

Counter-counterpoint: No Barbershop Quartet members were shot in this video.

It figures that 'gamers' think acapella would bridge the gap between music from 1966 and 1912 (the year this game is set according to wikipedia). It was fun to rape the level-up juice out of little girls in Bioshock, but the accents, terrible writing and finger-wagging for nutting on those girls are too high a price. I'll stick with DOOM, thank you.

They both sucked.

Counter-counter-counterpoint: Bioshock Infinite's plot was at odds with its gameplay. Bioshock had a reason for dudes trying to kill you to the last drop of their lives because they were mutated horrors driven mad by Rapture's fall into chaos. Infinite's goons come at you with murder in their eyes because of... racism? Uh...

Booker regrets his sordid past... while murdering more people? What?

Infinite is less boring because... it's all entirely scripted?

This doesn't even begin to address the ultra-limited inventory which is really stupid given that you could upgrade a weapon then have to drop it because you need something else, and those upgrades are now wasted unless you find that same weapon lying around later on, not to mention no hacking, no resource management, etc.

It's pretty much the complete dumbing-down of a game series that started out as an Ultima-inspired RPG with shooter elements into a pretty looking linear shootfest.

poopy: Albert Fink heard the the Beach Boys through a rift, in another reality, and then unwittingly arranged the song in an 1812's style. The appropriateness of the song lyrics along with the literal Steam Punk (e.g. the future as imagined by the past) moment is brilliant on many layers.

I wore a fedora when I typed all that.

I was wondering how it is. It's tempting, because, you know, goddamn it's pretty.

Oh well, I'm nowhere even close to finishing AC4 yet, and holy balls is that game fun.
