A flat tax isn't really a new concept in politics. Al Gore ran for president on it. I don't know why Daxflame is getting a bug up his ass about it.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-01-31 I needed to check that to see if it was true. It's not: but the truth is even more strange than either of us knew. Nader supported the flat tax in 2000, not Bush or Gore.
The only reason I could see for this is that the current Federal tax system as it is in practice is strongly regressive. As that old commie agitator Warren Buffet likes to point out, he pays about 1/2 the rate his secretary pays on his income. So a flat tax would be an improvement on that.
What neither does is correct for the power law distribution of wealth and it's effect on the stability of our political/economic systems.

I totally agree with Kirk Cameron's doppelganger. Bread costs the same fro all no matter how much money is in your pocket.

When you account for ALL taxes (not just federal income, but sales taxes, state taxes, property taxes, fuel taxes, etc.), you see that poor people already have plenty of skin in the game.

Okay, okay, we'll give you a flat tax on income when you let us tax the shit out of assets.
The more you hoard, the more you pay, mother-fuckers.

What is he really meant is that we should tax poor people so that they'll vote to reduce taxes.

I wouldn't award the term "idea" to that sequence of burps and farts.
