I'm not so sure about that anymore. I used to think absurdist parody was a distinctly Western thing. I have friends from India who are very into the dregs of Bollywood, they have been Westernized, and educated in the West as well. This video was shared with me by an Indian for its ridiculousness.

Then again, that's still a relatively small class of people in India and East Asia, but as those countries become more affluent they'll probably develop more collector, culturally saturated and decadent mentality, which is part of the culture we participate in here every day on poetv.
