oh god you can probably see me in the background of this video somewhere

I love how the gaming press is pretending this isn't about the money. Right, a development team releasing one game every six years? That's great business for vg companies everywhere.

DrVital - 2014-02-19

And yet, you are the one who is wrong, Riskbreaker.

Gmork - 2014-02-19

This doesn't bode well.

RocketBlender - 2014-02-19

A real shame to hear, I really enjoyed Bioshock.

badideasinaction - 2014-02-19

I really hope this closure is truly for personal and not financial reasons because if Bioshock Infinite isn't financially viable for a studio in the long term the industry is fucked.

Gmork - 2014-02-19

Totally disagree, Bioshock has been console-y since its inception. It's good, but it's a fruit-stripe gum kinda game if i've ever played one (and I've played all of them).

badideasinaction - 2014-02-20

Wasn't really commenting about the game quality, more that if a franchise that does that well isn't financially viable there's big problems on the horizon for other studios.

I've played some of it - good setting/feel, but I hate the forced back/side-tracking they put in for buffs. If every path where you know you need to go left has a right path that leads to items, it's pretty uninspired level design because it's not open world but forced exhausting all other paths. Anyway, that's my big fault with the overall design - it's a pet peeve I guess.

Did it really sell that well? Seems like all the critic reviews were glowing, but all the user reviews hated it.

Riskbreaker - 2014-02-22

Video games that cost millions of dollars, and made by a staff of hundreds, stopped being financially viable years ago. The industry IS fucked. The number of studios that closed in the last couple of years is huge.

StanleyPain - 2014-02-19

Thanks for making my game for me that I'm taking the credit for and putting on my resume! You're fired!

Who would have guessed Ken Levine is a creepy scumbag?

cognitivedissonance - 2014-02-19

I can't help but find some sort of irony in the fact that the man focused a game on the flaws of Objectivism and his company falls thanks to Market Forces.

yogarfield - 2014-02-19

heh heh.

I don't understand the direction of GameSpot. The two people they have on screen are cheetos extreme but they seem to be breaking down something on the most superficial level that would offer no insight to fellow cheetos extremers. Is it a broad appeal site or a nerd site?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-02-20

Wonderful. That means the future BioShock games will be all 2K's doing.

Just like BioShock 2.

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-02-20

That's too bad, I really liked System Shock 2.

Ken Levine: I, Me, My, etc.

Employees: I don't mind starving as long as the boss feels emotionally satisfied.

Inside the closed down abandoned offices of Irrational, someone picks up an audio recording...
