This is exactly the kind of thing I should be building instead of fucking around on youtube all day!

Same here.

So I recently found out that the old Novation Bass Station Rack (not the keyboard version, just the cheaper, easier to find and better made rack version) has not only a midi to CV function but a CV to MIDI functon, both of which are totally independent of the synth (so you can use the CV functions on a different channel from the synth, but I don't know if you can use both CV modes at once). What this means is that you could theoretically plug a basic DIY sequencer like this into the CV input of a BSR and use it to control either the BSR itself or another MIDI synth. Which would be very cool.

The Bass Station Rack is only slightly more expensive used than an entry level Doepfer midi to CV box (which won't do CV to midi at all as far as I know - that's not a common thing), and the synth in it is apparently pretty good for the price. I always ignored them because I thought they were digital and I didn't know about the CV function, but as soon as I found out I got one.

I'm posting all of that because I'm sure the other PoeTV synth folks will show up in here sooner or later and I want you to all get on ebay and buy yourselves Bass Station Racks ASAP. They're common and cheap, shouldn't go above 0 and often more like 0.

I've been looking at these bass station racks, and it seems important to point out that the novation "super" bass station rack doesn't seem to have a cv in.

That might be my knee in the bottom left foreground of this one but I'm not sure:

I don't remember why I didn't have a swimsuit with me but we ended up stopping and getting one at a strip mall on the way, and it was that color and way too big but I ended up wearing it the whole time because it was too hot for jeans.

Between that and it being the only year of my adult life that I didn't have a beard there are some really incredibly bad photos of me from that weekend, but none of them are on that page.

EvilHomer - 2014-03-16

Oh, I was hoping you were the distinguished gentleman with the beard and the pipe. He looked the least likely to be a child-murderer.

Old_Zircon - 2014-03-16

Stabat Mater! He was great, he'd just come back from Scotland I think that same week.

EvilHomer - 2014-03-16

So it was a real thing, huh? I'd heard about PoeCon back in the day, but I always figured it was a sarcastic urban legend started by kthor or one of the other cool kids. I can't imagine anyone meeting up IRL with strange dorks they know from an internet site dedicated to laughing at furry porn and self-admitted sex offenders, let alone come out of it alive.

Did you guys really make Superfister sleep in his car? And which one was he? Was he the fat girl? Please tell me he was the fat girl.

Old_Zircon - 2014-03-16

There were three of them, I was at the first two. "A thing" is a fair assessment.

craptacular - 2014-03-16

hmph, i miss SF69... and stationary tornado. did he die or something?

Old_Zircon - 2014-03-16

SF69 was posting on the Facebook group for a little while, between him and a couple of other people they recovered almost all of his signature pictures.

Old_Zircon - 2014-03-16

Supposed to be a reply; moot point anyway because I think I lost them again already.

Scrimmjob - 2014-04-16

Yo OZ, not sure if you'll see this or not, since this vid is not exactly current at this point. Anyway, I started looking at getting the parts to build this, the Velleman kit is indeed pretty cheap, but I don't have a surplus of pots lying around, long story short I can't seem to find 10k linear pots cheaper than about .00 a pop. You need 8 for this project which comes to . I'm wondering if I am just looking in the wrong places or for the wrong things.

Anyway, for 16 bucks this seems like an awesome project, but after pricing the parts it looks closer to 100 dollars.
