dementomstie - 2014-04-21 I'm very bad at this sort of thing. OK, we'll try it again.

someone please explain to a euro-peon where this site's fascination with these batman cartoons stem from. the art deco artwork is nice and all but I don't really see any other charm.
what confuses me the most is that mark hamill is somehow considered a good actor because he voiced a character on it.
don't mean to piss on anyone's nostalgia, I am just curious.

oddeye - 2014-04-21 It's straight up for kids. The only appeal this might have for someone over the age of 10 is if you were an adult baby and liked to shit in your diaper.
Mark Hamill is a good actor but not because he voiced a kids cartoon. He also did well in that series of kids movies, Star Wars, too.

Bort - 2014-04-21 What Unmerciful Crushing Force said. And to me at least, there is something inherently cool about a guy whose intelligence, training, courage, and creativity can best anything you throw at him.
As for Mark Hamill (the Joker) and Kevin Conroy (Batman), I don't know that anyone is saying they are the equivalent of Olivier for their voice work. But they do their roles very, very well. Conroy has exactly the right amount of growl in his voice, while Hamill uses different laughs for different moods; it all works.
Somewhere, there is somebody sniffing contemptuously and thinking, "how shameful that adults enjoy children's entertainment when they should be reading classic Greek literature". Well let's take a look at perhaps the most celebrated character of Greek literature -- Odysseus -- and what he brings to the table: he's a mortal man whose intelligence, training, courage, and creativity can best anything you throw at him. So basically, Batman. The main differences are that he settled the crime problem in Ithaca all in one afternoon, and dressed as an old man rather than a bat.
|
Bort - 2014-04-21 Oh wouldja look at that: I'd typed out my Odysseus thing before oddeye even posted.
|
oddeye - 2014-04-21 I don't care for Greek literature but at least it's actually literature and not a bunch of poorly drawn pictures with some tripe for dialogue. Which this is.

SolRo - 2014-04-21 oddeye still trying to find a troll persona that gets a rise out of people.
|
oddeye - 2014-04-21 Got a rise out of you. Since when is it a troll to point out the truth?
|
|
oddeye - 2014-04-21 I liked him in the remake of Village of the Damned which stared Superman. Coincidence?

I like how it's a continuation of 'Soul of Silicon'.
Would have really loved to have seen HARDAC back in action in Beyond proper.

Nikon - 2014-04-21
This was nice. I wish we could have more Batman Beyond.
|
DriverStabby - 2014-04-21
Gee. Thanks for making me miss Batman Beyond.
|
DriverStabby - 2014-04-21 After 13 years, DC was like, "Okay, you can do it . . . HAHA no you can just put the tip in for a second."
