Pressing the Bohr model a bit, you might say that the cloud is the excited state of the "atom" and the accretion disc is the ground state.

In your face! Next time someone comes up to me with their weak ass "we live in a universe with a million dimensions and angels" kung fu, I can be all like "oh yeah, then why is the solar system FLAT, fool!?"

Checkmate, ignorance.

Intellectual checkmate.

Try flat-out telling people they have no idea what they're talking about. You'd be surprised at the results.

It's a round-about way of turning our understanding of the solar system on it's ear, and some would say it's just spinning a yarn. I would take a different angle.

This channel is awesome. They cram more information and theory into a few minutes than many contemporary documentaries manage to fit into one hour.
However one can only watch so many in a row before going a bit mad. Also for many of the more tricky / nuanced / exotic subjects a few minutes is simply not enough to make any headway for me anyway

Why does a cloud always have a spin in one direction?

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-04-22

Because it is a net spin, the summation of all the individual spins of the constituent particles. The only other possible condition is zero, where both cw and ccw rotations exactly matched. Pretty unlikely, that. Entirely more likely to have some nonzero net spin, cw or ccw. take your pick.
