The gun nuts fuel this bullshit.

They're so afraid of losing their precious little toys. And let's be real, here, they ARE JUST TOYS because they'll never use them in a "Red Dawn" scenario or to mount a revolt against the government. Guns are just their little playthings. Playthings whose sole function is to be lethal. They're so afraid of losing those toys, they would rather encourage delusional paranoid people to believe the slaughter of school kids was a fabrication of some shadow government that wants to enslave us all than risk increased gun control measures.

EvilHomer - 2014-05-12

The Truthers are indeed delusional, but the idea that gun rights are unimportant, that over-sensationalized tragedies like Sandy Hook constitute such a threat to your security that you urgently need to surrender constitutional liberties to the state's security apparatus (as envisioned by either the "ban guns" Dems or the "employ armed guards" Republicans), that the United States does NOT have gun control laws already (it does, and I think we can agree that these laws are quite reasonable), or that the only actual "solution" being placed on the table by anti-gun crowd - namely, a Federal ban on "assault weapons" - will have any effect on crime at all, despite the mountains of empirical evidence to the contrary which we gained from our previous experiment with this same well-meaning but misguided regulation... I submit that these ideas are almost as delusional as the Truthers shadow government conspiracy.

SolRo - 2014-05-12

Why don't you take your toys and go take back the liberties you've given away over the last 13 years to 'fight terror'?

And if owning an assault rifle is such a necessary freedom, why not an RPG? I doubt making RPGs or portable SAMs legal would have a large effect on the total number of gun crimes, even if an airliner is shot down very rarely. And think about how much bigger your dick would feel when you bring your rocket launcher to the gun range.

oddeye - 2014-05-12

My belt-fed "Mexican Mower" may be able to slaughter 60 potential rapist border-jumpers a minute but an explosive RPG might cause collateral damage to nearby white children, you fucking MONSTER.

memedumpster - 2014-05-12

Dead kids == media yawn.

Gun owners are adult children who see small children as their peers, so dead kids aren't a tragedy to them, those kids were just inferior to them and deserved it.

This is why I stopped caring about the gun debate. Anyone who argues with children as if their selfish little animal tears were valid discourse cannot claim to be an adult.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-05-12

Except that thanks to NRA lobbying during the crafting of the legislation, the things defining an "assault weapon" were largely cosmetic, pretty much as planned. This allowed the manufacture of guns that were just as capable as the banned ones with little muss or fuss.

Plus, existing guns under the ban were grandfathered in as legal, so it's not like they were confiscated, and remained in circulation.

It'd be nice to have stats on what guns were most used in crime, but the NRA and its goons in Congress have defunded any attempt by the CDC to gather stats on what sorts of guns are responsible for deaths/injuries. The CDC even goes so far as to give the NRA a "heads up" regarding ANY studies relating to gun deaths, as noted here:

http://www.apa.org/science/about/psa/2013/02/gun-violence.aspx

I don't think people who want all guns eliminated (an unrealistic goal) are the problem, since few even listen to them anymore. When was the last restrictive legislation on guns passed on a state or federal level? Meanwhile, repeals of gun laws and laws making it easier for anyone to get one get passed even after massacres that should make anyone sick to think about. It's the NRA and its gunloon fanatics that support and tolerate them that prevent any actual dialog that isn't charged with absolutist rhetoric.

SolRo - 2014-05-12

Cars are more regulated and controlled than guns are, and people don't find that insane.

joelkazoo - 2014-05-12

The NRA is a front for the gun manufacturers dressed up as a constitutional rights organization. Every time there's a gun-related tragedy, gun sales go up out of fear of having them taken away, and the press faces of the NRA go on TV and say outrageous things to distract everyone and create hubbub from both sides under the guise of "public discourse", and once it all dies down, there's more guns than ever in everyone's hands, which translates to shittons of money in the gun manufacturer's pockets.

Or so I've heard, I don't want to be sounding like the liberal Alex Jones here. If you can prove me wrong, please do so.

5 for just plain evilness.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-13

Gmork is missing from this thread. I want to see what stupid bullshit he'll say to ineffectively try to rebut the good points you've made.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2014-05-12

And this is why I hate conspiracy theorists.

Ocyrus - 2014-05-13

I agree.

mon666ster - 2014-05-12

I blame Alex Jones.

il fiore bel - 2014-05-12

Well, I hope these heartless twats never have to experience the pain of losing a child, only to have it followed by all the stupid shit that some wastes of skin feel like doing on a retarded whim.

Ocyrus - 2014-05-13

Apparently, in timing with the 18-month anniversary of the massacre.
Why do terrorists like to mark milestones?

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-13

CHILDREN DIED. That should be something untouchable by these psychopaths. When children die it is a universal tragedy, and there is NO room for this behavior.
