Because apparently nobody involved in the production knew anything about Dickens, his personal philosophy, his progressivism and sympathy toward the proto-Marxist undercurrent of 1880s London, his abhorrence of unjust labor practice, his mockery of classism in all it's many manifestations, etc. etc. etc.

I loved how some conservative critics called this movie an insult to the intelligence of conservatives, as if they'd find fat jokes and toilet humor funny.

I find this highly ironic since they appear to find executions, bombing people, torture, and monstering women & minorities into silence funny.

This is probably steering off-topic, but I have noticed the the people who scrutinize another person's looks are usually ugly, obese and balding. Projection, right?

Now you've got me curious as to what a Bollywood Christmas movie would resemble.
